I’d take Nisbet if we can get our money back for Colak. Don’t think we’d end up making a large profit on him. But decent squad option who would hit the ground running, used to the league and don’t have to worry about attitude etc

Isn't he a rabid? Been there with O'Halloran.

90% of the country has a preference one way or the other. Most players probably don’t give too much of a fuck. Would obviously prefer Rangers fans but it’s up to our staff to make a decision on whether they think it will make an impact. Both sides have had successful players who were boyhood fans of the other.

Could easily still get somewhere below about £5m if Butland has a storming couple of seasons up here.

Doubtful we would get that for a 32 year old outfield player.

Yeah on FIFA career mode maybe.

Asmir Begović went to Bournmouth from Chelsea for £10m when he was 30 (and was a backup keeper when he went)

Petr Čech went from Chelsea to Arsenel for £11m when he was 33 (as surplus to requirements)

There's two examples right off the bat - not an unreasonable post from @mitre_mouldmaster

Because he is such a pivotal part of that Man Utd squad that taking an hour out of his personal time to shove on a shirt and sit behind a desk with a pen would be so disruptive.....

Not many ex England keepers who are nation trained playing outside of the EPL bubble to be honest.

Certainly not many who would be playing regularly in Europe.

If one of the big English clubs wanted a reliable backup they could easy bud for him, and £4-£5m is buttons for these teams.

Happy to place a wager, that if we sign Butland that he never moves to the EPL for £4m+.

£100 to a charity of each others choice.

Connor Coady would be our version of Shane Duffy, a siege defender used to being camped in his own half and doesn’t suit our style of play at all.

Nothing like it tbh, his biggest quality is bringing the ball out from the back, it's why Wolves got rid when they moved to a back 4.

He’s only ever played for bottom end sides every time I’ve seen him he’s been camped in his own box, maybe just due to him playing in a shite team tbf but from what I’ve seen I don’t think it’s a good fit.

Hmm didn’t help that Duffy was slow as a week in the jail and turned like a double decker bus.

Too easy to say every centre half of a lower Prem side is gonna be a calamity like him just because they’re tactically sat deeper most weeks than what we’re used to.

I’m pretty sure Coady would be able to adapt. He isn’t that slow, is he?

That's not the point - just gave a couple of examples.  Butland is known to be a good keeper and is English, so a year or so here performing and in Europe could see a team like Burnley etc. going for him.

That’s completely the point.

In the EPL money merry go round, you very occasionally get big money for an old goalie. You don’t when they play in the SPFL.

I think playing in Scotland means very little to buying clubs now as the competition is just not there.

There have been exceptions but not really for Goalies.

Mate, who knows what will happen - he can come and be crap, be great and a team comes in for him, be great and we don't sell, or doesn't come at all.  Fact is he is an English internationalist (with 9 caps) and not that old for a keeper, so will still have a relatively high profile..

I get that but as said in other posts, he has played for England 9 times (and was around the squad for a few year) and if he turns it on in Europe, teams will take notice.  Doubt Ajax paid £20m for Bassey based on his performances against Motherwell.
