Further behind in the league than we were under Pedro / Murty

He's started 4 games, in which we've conceded 8 goals, kept no clean sheets and he individually gave away 2 goals.

Hardly put a foot wrong

Apart from the error against the unwashed hes been our best defender.

Everything coming from errors in Tav Davies Barisic or McGregor.

Surely to fuck we ain't counting that considering we now know what happened in the lead up to that game?

We are when it suits an argument. He’s been pretty solid since he came in from the cold outside of the pass back.

Id be more than happy with him as 3rd choice.

This thread is a banger. The scum are having a freak season in terms of points they are putting on the board so fuck the 17/18 season as it's not comparable.

Pish day, team needs a ton of work in the summer but comparing it to the 17/18 team is just headline making pish. We're clearly better than then but the scum and their 40 odd million worth of signings are also better.

Feel free to vent but this thread helps nobody.

Is it really a freak season though ?

in the last 7 years in this League we have had both us and them complete an unbeaten league campaign and rack up records attacking wise and defensively  . I would say there is quite clearly a pattern in Scottish football nowadays where if us and Celtic get everything spot on recruitment , squad rotation , tactics etc etc then there is absolutely no reason either of us shouldn’t be in the same position they currently are now or we were during the 55 season.

It’s nothing to do with suiting an argument though.

He’s been here since the start of the season, started 4 games had an absolute shocker in one, gifted the Tarriers a goal in another, and never exactly covered himself in glory at St Mirren’s second either, to say he’s hardly put a foot wrong is hilarious, even more so when you take into account he sat for 5/6 months on his arse injured.

People are just ignoring the fact that they've threw everything they have backing the manager after their shambolic 20/21 season. And it has worked. They've spent 50m at least on rebuilding the squad. Of course they're going to beat every other team barring 1 or 2 dodgy results. We just dont have the finances to do the same so we've had to box clever. But we don't have the squad mentality to believe that we can compete with them. We had the chance to press on after that season but we sat back with our feet up and didn't press on. Hindsight is wonderful but we've regressed so far back it's borderline negligence .

It’ll be a freak season when the do the same next year. The gap between us and them and the rest of the league is the biggest I’ve ever seen so unless our mentality changes to we need to win every single game, including the ones that have that extra pressure then we’ll be in the same position next season.

We shit ourselves in the moments where we can maybe gain momentum or win a cup or put the slightest bit of pressure on them as well. Every single footballing situation that requires some sort of mental strength, we choke a lot more often than not

They have a net spend of about 5 or 6 million since their manager came in so this fallacy that they 10's millions that we do not have is nonsense. Since Gerrard came in we have spent more on players after sales than they have - its not selling players at the right time (until recently) that has cost us the ability to refresh the squad. Also the fact we don't seem to scout many markets relying on England , Belgium, teams we play against or ex players to get our signings mostly.

You are spot on with the mentality as Tav has said this on numerous occasions whilst Goldson also admitted as much after hibs gubbed us

Very true, their completely ruthless in the market. Selling guys when they can is funding it. If someone doesn't work, they're gone. If they get a decent offer, they're gone. We huff and puff and piss about. And we're about to lose at least 40M worth of assets, probably closer to 50 at the peak, for nothing.

Easy to judge him without that first game though. He’s a far better option than Davies whose confidence is completely gone it seems.

Some of the mistakes we make are comical, we don’t block, we can’t go through a whole game without gifting chances to the opposition and with more than one mistake only in a passage of play, the first goal yesterday sums that up, hospital pass from Tav, lazy from the buff and a goalie that can’t move his feet or jump anymore.

The first thing we need is a goalie, that would hopefully provide a bit more confidence in the defence. Tav and Borna are so poor at stopping crosses it is scary. Our CBs, no matter who they are cannot body on the line defend, I have no idea why we cannot do the basics right. Aberdeen are not the first side to defend properly against us, fucking celebrating blocks and the rest.

missing sitters as well and our shooting is criminal.

right I am back to work…

Tav made a similar pass towards the end of the first half and went off on one at Raskin for it . Infact we done it countless times in the first half with just about every half decent Aberdeen opportunity being a result of our sloppy play out from the back. They weren’t even pressing and we were gifting them the ball around the edge of our box with terrible passes

He should be a backup option at best. The only thing in his favour is his Scottish nationality when it comes to a European squad.

Why do we continually play out from the back against a high press, it puts us under immediate pressure right away.

All we end up doing most of the time is lose the ball in midfield or have a CB punt it 50 yards to no-one in particular.

Due to the rarity of seasons going like that then yes it's a freak season. You can go back to days when both teams were arguably stronger than now with players like Laudrup, Gascoigne and Larsson and other Scottish teams would still take points off both of us. It's a freak season.
