On a side note, has anyone seen a referee go over to the monitor and not give a decision that agreed with VAR?

Not sure it's ever happened

In Europe's major leagues, a referee will stick with his own decision around five times a season. It happened four times in the Premier League last term, but only once so far in this campaign (compared to two at this stage last season).

Whats he meant to do with his arm there when it comes off his chest? 😂

Especially , as they’ve pointed out on tv, a similar one earlier in the same match which came off the thigh onto the arm was ruled not worth the ref looking at by VAR. How the hell is anybody meant to know what’s going on when even the professional refs dont

Get var in the fucking bin I hope there is a uprising against this system it's a fucking sham cheating in plain sight

We’d be fucked if they got rid of VAR. We’d be even further behind in the league than we already are

Did Collum not do it in our favour in like the 3rd or 4th game we had it in place in the league?

Seem to remember a big thing being made about it (surprise surprise!)

Just read that that deflection onto arm guidance is interpreted differently in some leagues. I give up trying to figure it out anymore.

This is a caption saying current UEFA guidance doesn’t think it’s a penalty but that doesn’t fit in with tonight’s decision so fuck knows

European governing body UEFA, has moved to do just that with guidelines for the 2023/24 seasonalready released. Most importantly, the European governing body wishes to relax the whistling of handball offences with regards to deflections, as well as relaxing the punishment for yellow and red cards shown.

The guidelines for 2023/24 suggest that "no handball offence should be called on a player if the ball is previously deflected from his own body, and, in particular, when the ball does not go towards the goal."

And just to add to the utter confusion BBC is now saying the part in bold above was a UEFA  football board recommendation for 23/24 but UEFA did not implement their own board’s recommendations .

Fucking fuck me , can these clowns that seem determined to ruin the game actually make it any more complicated 🤦🤦🤦

Should just make any accidental handball an indirect freekick offence.

They should just make accidental handball a non offence just like it was for over 100 years .
It never needed the meddling that’s turned it into a farce.

There are bigger problems , eg the modern thing about players clinging onto opponents like limpets at every corner kick or the ridiculous feigning injury at the slightest touch, that need addressed. That is just cheating.

There should be a serious investigation into the Newcastle PSG debacle last night.  It stinks of corruption, anyone who understands football knows that wasn't a penalty .

I noticed in the news today the ref who gave it is being stood down from duty for the Europa league, but there needs to be a deeper investigation into his betting and bank accounts.
