Tav's time is up.

Recommended Posts

Tav will be a miss when he’s gone. His goals and assists will be a real struggle to replace, and while he isn’t enough of a leader on the pitch, it’s fair to say that in most seasons he hasn’t had much to lead and has literally had no help in that department (being a greeting faced bastard, but excellent keeper didn’t make McGregor a leader). He, until recently, hasn’t been nearly as bad a defender as has been made out on here.

However, if we’re to be successful next season we’ll probably play them at least five times and will need to win at least three. If we know, for a fact that our captain and right back will be targeted from minute one in these games and be run ragged by a player much faster than him, with precious little if any support from his team mates, then it’s time for him to go.

He’s given us much, much more than he’s cost us, and it’s a shame it will possibly end for him like this, but we can have no room for sentiment here. It’s undoubtedly time for him to go.

Hasn't nearly been as bad a defender? Come on man, teams have targetted his and our left back side for years because they were a shambles at the back, jota used to have a fucking field day against him

Praise him for his attacking stats yeah, but dont brush over just how bad a defender he is, he is god awful and if he wasn't he certainly wouldn't have been here for 9 years

As has often been made out on here? Nope.

I used to defend him to the hilt but he literally got the ball in behind 10 times today. It’s ridiculous.

I was about to post - shit today. And he was poor, very poor. But he was being continually being skinned by a guy quicker than him, and didn’t get much help from his teammates or manager.

Thank fuck. The dam is starting to burst. Your middle paragraph however. You seem to infer his team mates need to  limit their contributions for Rangers to cover for tav. You would be happy with that????

And for what it's worth, his team mates stopped a skelping from down his side today.

He won’t be missed. Just like Boyd, Novo, Prso, McCoist, Cuellar, McGregor bla bla.

Start by getting attacking players involved in goals, then Tav’s contribution’s aren’t needed.

This. Others still can't see that.

Really bizarre take on what was basically me saying that this is a team sport and players need to work for each other - not just themselves.

But to look more closely at their post, you seem to infer that you’re not happy that his team mates helped out down that wing, when not doing so would have resulted in a worse result. Also really bizarre.

Probably unhappy that tavs teamsmates constantly have to check him to see if he needs cover etc instead of focusing on their own game 100%,

Cant be good for a team when 3 players all need to play their own game and also try cover someone elses liabilities

Right sided midfielders and right sided central defenders should help to cover their right back - same as left. Full backs should support midfielders and wingers. Attacking midfielders should support forwards. Etc etc etc.

Are you not aware of this aspect of football, or just wilfully ignoring it?

Football is a team sport. It also needs each player to be at a min level . There is a difference between covering for an aggressive, athlete charging forward and the ball being lost compared to that defender getting torn a new arse one on one with maeda.  First scenario is part of the game and I am happy with. Second one is for losers and something you seem to be advocating.

I say again

Tavs team mates did cover his arse today.

Yeah, it does need players to be at a minimum level. That level is obviously subjective, and now, imo, as I’ve posted above, Tav has dropped below that level, therefore it’s time for him to go.

Me and my mate where talking about him before the game and we both where watching his every move today. He really was bad today everything he touched turned to shit.

Throw ins and passes all lost and ended up with them hitting us on the break.

Think there was one time at the back where he done well against Maeda and one or two of his corners where ok but that really was his worse performance against them. It was absolutely tragic, He is a legend to me personally just for the fact of stats not silverware but he really needs stripped of the captaincy and a new era needs to start at Ibrox

His times up - Been some servant for the club

But he's constantly exposed and he’s now lost that half yard of pace, we need to take any bid we can for him in the summer

Sterling needs to start RB - If we can’t get a decent cheap backup then young Devine must be given a chance

We only have so much cash available to make the changes - A few youths might need to step up to help with the squad

Young Robbie Fraser could deputise for Jefte - Get some money back in by selling Yilmaz?

Thought he had a good second half after a shaky first, but now is the time to sell when there is still value in him.

He has two young sons and a partner might be harder to shift him especially if his family are settled. Would need to be a great deal. That's why the Captaincy needs stripped now so when a bid does come in Tav will know its time to move on.

Being a captain at Glasgow Rangers and your family settled Would be hard for anyone to leave

Its still a valid argument, when we don't have the ball tav is a complete liability, his defensive position is terrible, he now lacks the pace to make up for his terrible defensive positioning, and when he is close to the opponent he isn't aggressive enough defensively to pretty much stop anything

Which means the right side of the team is pretty much gonna need to help him everytime a team pinpoint him, which they do every single game now

His legs have now gone unfortunately. Has been a very good servant but Father Time has caught up with him. Corners today wernt the worst but his crossing was terrible. No longer carries the threat he once did.  Wish him all the very best and say farewell.
