disgruntled_bear 157
If he is on that much a week then we as a club are a disgrace!!! Well it was reported he wanted £25,000 and we were stalling, so it won't be far of the £20k a week
FlippinEck 3,844
That could send the whole playing staff into chaos if that prick comes in and gets that wage, i thought we had a wage structure set in place, ie, the reason we never signed scott brown was (along with transfer fee) his wage demands... Hoff 7
Mhisser as 1 of our top 4 highest paid players?? That is more sickening than us jsut signing him!! How can a striker with his scoring record claim that, he aint worth half of it!! I cannot believe we are going to waste this much money on him, probably a 3 year contract as well! Ibroxblue 131
WALTER SMITH has appealed to Rangers fans to give Kenny Miller a second chance. The 29-year-old Scotland striker became the first player in the modern era to cross the Old Firm divide twice when he signed for the Light Blues from Derby County for £1.9-million earlier this month. His move, though, has been a highly contentious one. Sections of the Rangers support have repeatedly chanted their disapproval since it became clear that Miller’s transfer was a live possibility. Protests Rangers Supporters Trust spokesman David Edgar described the level of protests as “unprecedented†and Miller himself as a “deeply unpopular player.†While some fans claimed Miller had gestured to the Celtic badge after scoring against Rangers, Edgar insisted the real problem was that he was seen as simply not good enough. It is a view lent some support by the striker’s largely unsuccessful 15-month stint at the club. Light Blues boss Smith, though, argues the player he has signed in 2008 is vastly improved from the one that last wore the jersey. “In terms of the reaction generated by Kenny’s arrival, I would ask everybody not to make judgements on previous situations and his previous time at Rangers,†he said. “He is a far more experienced player now, and at the stage in his career where he will be able to use the experience he has. “Big benefit†“If he does that, I am sure he will be a big benefit to us, and if the supporters see that is the case, I am sure they will get over their misgivings. “I hope that is the case, anyway.†Gordon Strachan has signed former Rangers players Steven Pressley and Mark Brown for Celtic in recent years, and Smith is optimistic Miller’s time across the city in 2006 should not be an issue. “From my point of view, that aspect didn’t come into it,†he said. “I would hope those days are over now. “What was important to me was that Kenny was a terrific team player, who could help us improve. “We needed a bit better movement from the front players and he can supply that because he is a very willing runner.†http://www.sundaypost.com/postindex.htm
Boab 73
He does choose his words very carefully, our Uncle Walter, by not mentioning 'Celtic' Nevertheless:“From my point of view, that aspect didn’t come into it,†he said. “I would hope those days are over now.'' Interesting, does he really believe this?

mark_ni 12
he has a hell of a lot to prove. I dont think hes good enough and hes certainly not getting a cheer from me when his names read out at ibrox. Wont boo him but wont cheer him either. Hes going to need to work like hell, create chances and score at least 15goals in his first season to even begin to change the fans opinion of him. TMWWBK 0
I read the interview just there and i cant say i was impressed with what Smith had to say. He's being far too idealistic. Sure, in an ideal world the fans will back him and in an ideal world the signing wouldnt be a big deal. However, he's brung an ex Celtic player in and no matter what Smith says, it is a big deal. To say it isnt is just self righteous bullshit.

*Manticore* 1,893
Speaking as a rangers fan who would never boo a rangers player what fucking choice do i have? Other than the festering one that within a few years I will stop going to any games other than Euro aways. Let's face it. The Club do not give a fuck about how we feel. GersDude90 1
This one is all on Walter. If he flops, then its a massive mistake on his part, could be big enough to have him shoved out the door. If he does well, then all the fans saying he's not good enough will have to eat humble pie. I for one do believe he isnt the right level of class, however, he may well do great. Craigy 0
“In terms of the reaction generated by Kenny’s arrival, I would ask everybody not to make judgements on previous situations and his previous time at Rangers,†he said. What, like ignoring the fact he's shite? “He is a far more experienced player now, and at the stage in his career where he will be able to use the experience he has. Yes all the "footballing" experience Miller posses will be great for the team. “If he does that, I am sure he will be a big benefit to us, and if the supporters see that is the case, I am sure they will get over their misgivings. No we won't. “I hope that is the case, anyway.†Keep hoping. “From my point of view, that aspect didn’t come into it,†he said. “I would hope those days are over now. The days of signing a poor player who took great pleasure in scoring against us for our greatest rivals? “What was important to me was that Kenny was a terrific team player, who could help us improve. What about was it important to the fans? Miller will not help us improve. “We needed a bit better movement from the front players and he can supply that because he is a very willing runner.†Sebo is a willing runner, I'm a willing runner, we just aren't good enough though. The same applies to Miller.
D'Artagnan 13,319
I have had my reservations regarding this signing....based solely on his goals per game ratio at various clubs. However if he improves on that and gives his all for the Rangers shirt can we really ask for anymore ?
