Failed medical and deal is dead! Strange one!

Am I wrong to think this guy could solve our problems on the left???

Ive always thought he played in the Thomas Buffel position - Attacking midfield just behind the main striker.

TBH, I have no idea now where he plays. Initially before he joined I thought he was a right sided player. Then when he joined, he was to play just behind the strikers, now I'm told he's a winger! <cr> Maybe he doesn't know himself!

Actually, with this bio-mechanical thing pointing to it being a problem with the angles of his feet...maybe he has two left feet???

I'll get my coat!

We can rebuild him......the six bilion dollar gowser. This is a very very strange one, plays for blackpool, fails medical for wolves, needs operation! Must've been a right physical medical they gave him!

McCarthy: Why I KO'd move for Rangers ace Gow

by Bert Mitchell

WOLVES manager Mick McCarthy today revealed a hamstring injury was the reason he pulled the plug on the signing of Alan Gow.

The 26-year-old Rangers midfielder was set to head to Molineux last week after the clubs agreed a £250,000 fee, but McCarthy felt the deal would have represented a risk.

A failed medical was cited as the problem why the transfer collapsed and McCarthy said: "What we know is that his power was down on his hamstring and we had a scan done on it.

"He's got a tear on it which we know will require treatment and surgery. He won't need it now, he could carry on playing.

"But if I was to buy a new BMW and the engine's rattling, it might be okay now, but if I was to drive down to Bromley with the wife and kids and it breaks down, that's great isn't it?

"Alan knows this because I've sat him down and told him. I've tried to sign him before and why, having got him here and done the medical, would I not do it?"

Meanwhile, Rangers boss Walter Smith has revealed Gow will see a specialist to get to the root of the problem although Blackpool - who had the player on loan from August until January 1 - are keen to take him again.

"He is back with us now," said the Rangers boss. "It's a strange one because he has not missed a game for Blackpool recently so we find ourselves in a situation now where the player has an injury that he really didn't know he had.

"He is going to see a specialist with the hip injury and it may be that when the specialist sees him he will tell him just to continue playing.

"Alan has had no real problem with the injury. It's something we hope to get cleared up as soon as possible."

I'm still none the wiser to be honest. Is it his hip or his hamstring! <cr>

I'm a bit pissed off with mcCarthy. Christ, there's no guarantee that when you bu a player he is NOT going to get injured. That's just daft. For the money he's paying, it's not exactly themost risky bit of business in hostory! I reckon he's just pissed Gow about! He's basically admitted at the end of his quote that there isn't a problem! I ownder how thorough he would have been if he'd been going to sign Robinho...he'd probably not sleep for a week worrying about it!

Crystal Palace have been priced out of a move for Rangers midfielder and former Wolverhampton target Alan Gow.

The 26-year-old is out of favour at Ibrox and Eagles boss Neil Warnock was keen to land him on loan, but the south Londoners could not afford his wages.

"We spoke to Rangers about bringing Alan Gow to the club on loan," Warnock told the Croydon Advertiser.

"But we just couldn't afford his wages - it was too much money."

Warnock remains hopeful of adding to his squad, with a striker his priority.

He added: "I will find out on Monday once the transfer window closes if we can bring in our top two targets on loan. It all depends on whether the clubs can sell the players on a permanent basis."

How much is Gow on anyway? i'd guess about £6000pw?

Normally Scottish players get between £6k & £8k a week when they sign. It increases to £8k - £10k when they become an asset to the team (when they get a game in other words). You'll probably not be far wrong with £6k. But I'd guess that, as he was a first team regular with Falkirk, he'd probably been offered the higher end of the bracket!

Still, it's surpriising to hear a team like Palace can't afford that to be honest, being mid-table in the Championship. Would've thought that would be small change to them!

No interest for a while in him, after being linked heavily with a move away at the start of the window with plenty of takers!

I guess with the reports of that 'injury' will have put people off...no matter if it's serious or not.

Makes me wonder whether he's gone down to Wolves as a bit of a big time Charlie, not the type of player McCarthy would put up with me thinks!
