There can be nobody on the planet who has met more people than the Queen has, in the course of a lifetime. And there can be nobody with such a high profile who has given so little away: no chat shows, no exclusive interviews, no indication of what she might think about the issues of the day. Just a quiet and proud dignity. Seems to be sharp as a tack as well, despite her age. 

Her Majesty just had time to squeeze in a surprise visit to Erskine Park Veterans' Care Home earlier, to drop off some supplies for Her Boys (and Girls)...

 
Hopefully there's enough whisky & gin there to ensure that all the Veterans can toast her good health, and still have enough left for next week's D-Day celebrations.
 

 
Her Majesty also asked me to thank the very generous RangersMedia Erskine Fund Member who donated those much-needed supplies (as he/she does without fail every year, just in time for D-Day!!)


 
Her Majesty also said that she hopes to see another successful season of RangersMedia Members supporting Our Erskine Veterans, and One fully expects to see us all digging deep next month, when we begin our New Season Fundraiser to raise the £2000 that we'll  need if we want to renew our Veterans Ibrox Season Tickets for another season. 
Apparently One is rather keen on more of this kind of thing...

Moscow Dynamo recruited players from other Russin teams to enhance their line-up on the tour and were effectively the Russian national team.
After a warm up game against Chelsea which ended 3-3, they hammered Cardiff 10-1, then defeated  an Arsenal team that included and  Stan Mathews as guests 4-3 at White Heart Lane (sic).
So to Ibrox and the famous 2-2 draw in front of 90,000 fans, and as Rangers aggression pinned them back in the second half they famously put on a player as substitute, but omitted to take one off, a tactic they had apparently tried against Arsenal too, damn Ruskies
 
I love stuff like this, especially as at that time Arsenal and Rangers were the two greatest teams in Britain and probably Europe. The Russians brought along a new kind of football, similar to the later Dutch "Total Football", with all players passing and covering for each other. The Russians also had the great goalkeeper "Tiger Khomich" who was deemed to be the greatest goalie in the world at the time.on a level with the later great Lev Yashin. Only mention of famous hoops back then was the blue/white hoops we played in, and the yellow hoops on the Russians baggy blue shorts.
 
 

We've had a forward player booked for dissent when an opponent reacted similarly but worse and went unpunished. Weve had another booked yet it wasn't him that caused any contact.
Watch the card count increase against our front players. These cards all count towards inevitable suspensions and that's a more sleekit way of the refs achieving their aim than blatantly with red cards.

Mentioned this earlier, that kind of statistic of fouls per percentage of possession is something else.

On a similar vein though another massive bug bear of mine is how we see out games. Where they bombard weakened/tired opponents in the last 10-15 mins, we far too often take the foot off the gas and coast
