1st_Jan_1994 got a reaction from gogzy in Walter Smith - Non-Executive Chairman Confirmed by LSE
As much as I can see the obvious downsides - which people have been talking about all morning, in the short term this will bring some stability to the club regardless if you agree with the appointment or not - so that's a massive plus at least and badly needed

To his credit? he's an eternal optimist. Every decision anyone at Rangers makes or anything anyone at Rangers does is 100% the right one in his eyes. Anyone at Rangers and the club short term at least can do no wrong, no matter what.
BluePeter9 isn't a bad guy, he's far from the worst on here even though I rarely agree with him but he is a wee bit deluded if I'm being honest. He probably would say the same about me tho.

Really fuck me, are you comparing this to people who sit on Football Club boards or what...............how does Watty know everything about running a football club, did he negotiate contracts.....was he involved in running costs, do you then blame Waty for the history of players being signed that had a poor record re injuries, could Watty tell you the profit margin on the price of a pie when he was Manager.............I'm at a loss how you can come to the 100% backing of that post?

you are joking eh? if you yourself are employed, do you know what the people in the company you work for do? i doubt it, unless you have worked your way up to being a chairman. Walter has just been installed from nothing on a business standpoint
Being a chairman means that you oversee and vote on decisions and are reliant on being able to keep a reasonable amount of knowledge on each employees role and job spec.
Fuck does Walter know other then the players? will he be able to question what accountants bring to meetings? will he have the nous to be able to spot a good investment opportunity form a shite one? WIll he be able to make staff cuts to save money?
i very much doubt it.
I have respect for Walter and what he has done for the club but he is merely a figurehead to get tickets sold and calm fans, he is not going to help the club improve it's financial standing or attract investment.
take off the "i love watty" cardigan and glasses, from a business point of view it is a ridiculous appointment, it's like having the assistant manager for catering installed at the top table of a company.

Bitter Lemon apparently made a point about adressing the scum crowd at the tainted title presentation about 'unbroken history'. Make no mistake about it, this despicable bigot is a poison against our club and heritage.
Sooner we rid ourselves of the nice guy imposter-of-a-football-manager the better. 'We are the people' says McCoist, as he fetches his clubs. Disgrace.

Fans have witnessed this piece of excrement call The Rangers dug-out Orange bastards, Fans have witnessed this piece of excrement spew hils bile at a Rangers scarf, Fans have witnessed this piece of excrement rant and rave and show utter hate and contempt for The Rangers at various press conferences and now the Same Fans who scrimp and scrape and go without to buy tickets, watch while our Manager for whatever reason sees fit to socialise in the Algarve with an absolute dog of a person who would see him and The Rangers and their Fans 6 foot under if he got the chance. Now Alistair if you have no respect for yourself would you please try and show some respect for the People who Follow The Club though thick and thin and put some space between yourself and the devils spawn !

No matter what they do to us, some fans go back and have their belly tickled, and a pat on the head and told good boy.

He's scored a couple of goals from wide right, as I'd expect a Rangers attacker to do but he's scored the majority of his goals playing through the middle.
I'm not talking about Ally just now - I'm talking to you about Little's best position and you've said he sometimes contributes best out wide on the right? - if you genuinely believe that then cool, fine, ok - but I think you rationale and justify in your head to back your stance on McCoist being a great manager tbh.

If Ally got the sack tomorrow then 3 years down the line you'd see him in opposite dug outs to guys like Jim McInally and Gardener Spiers etc enjoying jokes and banter with them on the BBC website's images.
I'm not meaning to sound harsh, but a lower leagues manager is his level - if he decides he wants to continue with management after us (however it pans out)

For £700,000 a year and a £7 million budget I would expect no less, unfortunately I am still waiting for my moneys worth, pumped out of every knockout competition says it all.

Playing with 1 striker and 2 defensive midfielders at Ibrox against part time footballers is not underestimating them

Aw I know. I expected a culture shock at the beginning and some poor performances. But it's the lack of progression that has worried me the most. We seem to have gone backwards.

You said Celtic, not Celtic fans. As individuals a lot of them are sound, fair enough. The club itself is a disgusting tower of hate, which projects its venom directly at us.
It has nothing to do with the West Coast. That really rips my knitting, the West Coast is not fucking Mordor. You are a smart enough guy but honest to God you really need to take a step down off your pedestal now and again.
