Shite post off of Billy, but the school girl bully mentality is getting embarrassing on here sometimes. 
Probably will be Defoe if no ones in by then,  but the Boards failed us if that’s the case. 

Goldson - 4th choice at Brighton, post heart surgery
Hagi - struggling at Genk who they were happy to move on
Kent - Liverpool reserve after poor Championship loans
Kamara - Dundee player, free transfer, no real competition
Aribo - only one you can argue for, end of the day he's a League 1 player we could get for much cheaper than everyone else 
We overstretched our bounds on none of those transfers 

I still think the whole luring players thing is a myth, or at least way overplayed. If you're the size of club/league that is a step up for them and you offer them their market value wages they will sign for you.
Still maintain that every player we signed under Gerrard we could have still signed with any other reasonably competent manager.

The board are probably desperate that he does. We need to sell players. Unless we’re 10 points ahead in January and the title looks a shoe in then we’ll probably sell as soon as any respectable bids come in

I actually think we're probably going a bit OTT on Gio tbh but fuck it as long as it's not some of the other names 

Also this thread for another opinion on GVB. Also highlighting the apparent problem of breaking down teams who just sit back and lack of plan B. But seemed an overall positive assessment of him. Likes to focus the attack on the wings, attacking fullbacks. High, aggressive press but could mix it up tactically against Ajax/PSV. 
 

Saw this posted on FF. Rangers fan on reddit posted in the Eredivisie subreddit for their thoughts on GVB and some interesting comments for those interested.
Summary is that seemingly not considered to be brilliant tactically, someone mentioning that there's an over reliance on 4-3-3, not a great plan to get the ball forward and ends up possession for possession sake, others saying perhaps better tactically than was suggested. But general consensus is a brilliant man manager, a bit of an old-school type manager (in both positive and negative sense), extremely likeable, that his title winning season was a remarkable achievement given the gap between the top clubs. His trophies make him Feyenoord's most successful manager ever apparently. Out-classed Ten Hag in matches, excellent record in the big games, fairly poor in Europe. Another saying given the massive financial difference between Ajax, PSV and AZ that nobody can argue with his results. Made poor transfers apparently. 
Overall sounds like he did a really good job given the circumstances at Feyenoord compared to the other teams. They all seemed to think he'd be a good choice for us.

Plenty of players have liked the posts on Instagram where he thanked the club - Tav, Defoe, Davis, Kamara, Katic, Barisic - to name a few.
I would imagine the players have probably been asked or advised not to publicly comment on it because of the circumstances of his departure, and because of how pissed off everybody is at the moment. I actually imagine that’s why Tavernier, the club captain is the one person who has commented on it on social media - and with words that were classy and dignified.
Infact, that seems like a more sensible theory than “the players probably hated him” which nobody has ever seen any indication of at all during his time here. Infact for the most part I would say it’s been the complete opposite.
