My view on Candeias is that he's very much in the Papac mould (albeit he plays further forward) insofar as he's a solid, reliable 7 out of 10 most weeks. He'll give you everything he's got, he'll not stop running, and he'll cover defensively. He's very much a team player, the type of player who IMO won't necessarily shine week in week out but he's someone you'd want in your team. A players player if you like. That said he's not without quality on the ball and has had a number of assists, and goals both home and away. He was player of the year last year (not a ringing endorsement I concede) and in the few away games he's started this season he got a pretty credible assist in Villareal and played a key role in our win today. His discipline has been crucial in not losing away in Europe in the games he's played too, a role which might not look great on a youtube compilation but it's the dirty side that has given us a platform to build from. His defensive work is so important to how we set up, particularly away from home. 
Like most players he probably does produce more at Ibrox. I don't think that's surprising. He sees more of the ball and with the fans behind him, naturally he and many others perform better. You could argue the same of Kent. I'm a big Kent fan but there's an argument that Kent hasn't been as incredible away from home either. Like Candeias though, take away Kent's end product, goals and assist, a huge part of their game is their industry, work ethic, energy and team work, which is essential to how we play.
I think Middleton could be anything he wants to be. He seems smart and seems like he wants to and is keen to learn but playing on the wing is all fine and well running at a full back. However, there's so much more to playing out wide than that, especially away from home. Middleton can and will learn a lot from watching Kent and Candeias perform at both ends of the park but moreso how they operate defensively, how they are disciplined, compact and where they position themselves with and without the ball.
