Pre Bosman almost every club had a decent player or two because they could more or less hold their licences to ransom for their entire career, you could go to a St Mirren, Dundee Utd, Motherwell, Hearts, Hibs or even an Aberdeen and they'd normally have one player at least who'd make you better.
With the three foreigner rule it was a no brainer to swoop up the best Scottish talent because every club was in the same boat, what you might end up doing though is playing someone who in a level playing field might not be good enough for you but as he's Scottish and you had to fill the quota he'd have to make do, having a Scottish core was just a consequence of having to shop predominately in Scotland out of necessity rather than desire.

If a club weren't willing to pay Goldson as much as we were 12 months ago when he was at a career peak, how are we expected to convince him to leave now?

You're not repeating games against shite, but you're significantly increasing the number of games against shite, while decreasing the number of games against decent teams.
I really don't think it would help attendances at all, I actually think it would decrease them.
The biggest attendances for the other 10 teams in the league are against us and celtic. If you half the number of games against the OF their annual attendance will decrease. What chance are they going to get a decent attendance against Ayr and Greenock Morton in place of 4 games against the OF.
If I'm a Raith Rovers fan debating getting a season ticket, 8 games against the OF is going to be a much bigger selling point than 4.
One of the biggest issues with Scottish football is that we have too many teams. The support is already concentrated massively towards the OF so it'd be better to have a smaller number of better supported teams.

Scunnered man, don't mind losing, don't like it obviously but if we came up here the day and made a few changes and tried things I'd understand these things happen but to put our best team available out and turn out that performance is just sickening, fuck them all man, no heart, no guts.

The only time it could've been a possibility was in 2016-17 when we got back up into League, if the tims were due a 3rd home game after the split then it should have been a third game against us as we would've been the lowest ranked club from the previous season, realistically that wouldn't have happened though and it highlights that these fixtures are manipulated rather than from a 'super computer'

I like Nisbet, I think he'd score 25+ a season with us no problem, he looks so much better than he did before he got injured, faster, leaner, fitter, looks like he's put on a bit of muscle too and he brings others into play, his link up looks like it's really improved too.
Would I be happy if he replaced Buff? Mah I'm looking for someone to really excite the fans but I think he's better than Colak and would be happy enough for him to come in as a back up, If we genuinely wanted him after 55 then there's probably a good chance Michael Beale will still rate him too.

I was coming around to thinking I'd be happy to see Tav, Goldson and Raskin sit this one out and keep them fresh for next week but after that and how much 3rd means to them financially I hope we go all guns blazing and blitz the bastards.

Aye for me, there is a gap between the clubs, they've just got so many more options all at a first team level than we have, Hatate is their best player IMO, O'Riley came in for him last week, set up the first goal and he already had three assists against us from the first game this season, Abada has punished us at the piggery, he's injured last time out and their wingers are Jota and Maeda, two guys who punished us previously, even the last time we played them there in September, Kyogo went off injured after a minute, they could bring on that big greek prick (be damned if I'm trying to spell his name).
 
I like to think our strongest XI can match their strongest XI but I'm probably kidding myself with that too, we need about 5 first team starter quality players over the summer, if we can get that then we've got a chance, they'll probably lose a couple of their players too and you just need to hope the ones the bring in won't be as lethal as the ones they're replacing.
 
The gap is definitely there at the moment but it's not an unbridgeable gap, things need to go in our favour in terms of recruitment, the big question is can we be trusted to get recruitment right and bridge this gap? 

Thing is with Roofe, any club that would be willing to take a chance on him on loan will have it written in the contract that if he gets a significant injury they can cut the loan short so unless he does something that he doesn't normally do, then we'd more than likely end up paying most of his full wage for the majority of next season anyway.
That is looking at it from a glass half full prespective but there's no other logical way to view Roofe's potential to pick up a long lasting injury, unfortunately.
