    It really is that simple.
The manager should be able to tell who is up for it and who isn’t.
If they are all up for it and we can get that spark back then that’s fantastic. If not then drop the ones who aren’t up for it and tell them to find another club and reinvest.
Its time he needs to get tough and drop people that don’t have the right mentality even if their ability is better.

Win the next 14 games and you win the league. Thats all the players should need to hear.

Sorry but a 4-3-3 if your players are up for it will be better than a 4-4-2 or 5-3-or any other formation if the players are not up for it.
Individual errors and a lackadaisical approach to the game from the players will lead to dropped points, not the tactics.
If Gio can’t motivate players and won’t drop them even when its clear they won’t be motivated then that’s Gio’s failing.

If this were football manager you’d boot Barisic, Tav, goldson, kamara and Kent down to the reserves, give Jack the captaincy and Arfield vice captain and play:
McCrorie, zukowski, king, balogun, Bassey, jack, Arfield, Ramsey, Diallo, Sakala and Morelos
This however isn’t football manager so Gio has to carefully manage the players as it seems they are quite fragile. Long term they need to go but we need to get what we can from them now and try to get back on track.
Dont pay attention to their games, just focus on our own. Focus on defensive positioning, passing, transitions, set pieces and shooting.

Then the manager needs to make an example of them.
Strip the captaincy, vice captaincy and drop them.
Whats galling is we sold Patterson to keep Tav after that performance last night can’t help but feel we’ve fucked that (though we did need the money anyway).
No player is bigger than the team and the way I see it is the rest of the squad have to see the manager won’t take that sort of shite from anyone in the squad.
Not ideal that we didn’t sign souttar and not ideal with helander new injury but we need to drop these players if it helps the squad as a whole. At least we have zukowski in at right back so it could be a good opportunity to drop Tav.

Players absolutely shat it last night, and our captain didn’t tear them to shreds and get their arses into gear after the first goal.
Spineless, gutless, lazy and cowardice. The manager has to assert his authority on the squad now.

If the players we have don’t hate them now they never will, no matter who you bring in. You either want to destroy them on the pitch or not, a Scottish coach isn’t going to get you that.
A motivational manager can get the most out of his players for any games and largely I think we got that with Gerrard but it ran out of steam.
Tav has been beaten enough by them to want to get revenge every time he plays them, give you that extra 10% on the pitch but it really hasn’t and he is the captain.
The captain for me is the one that needs to lead by example, jack did it last night and I have no doubt had he started the game wouldn’t have ended the same. That’s how you inspire the players around you. Think of Thomson’s crunching tackle on Keane or Hutton on McGeady, you look to your side on the park and you want to see that kind of player at your side, fighting with you for everything.
They don’t however need to be Scottish, look at the likes of Prso and Ricksen. Did they hate celtic? Possibly, but they certainly fought in every game and gave their all.
Coaches can only do so much, once the players cross the touch line it’s largely down to the individual and the collective. Even a manager can do little during a game and if the players lose it (as we did for that 5 minute spell in Dingwall conceding 2 quick fire goals and then again last night just before the break) the manager and coaches are powerless to that.
Gio could have laid out a master plan last night but if the players weren’t motivated and up for it then the plan wouldn’t be executed how it was intended.
The big question is whether the manager told the players to stand off or the players shat it and did it themselves ignoring the instructions….or maybe a bit of both. Unfortunately there is no quick fix other than the players correcting their attitude on the park, if jack starts against hearts I expect that to happen.

It is yes, Bassey getting dragged wide when there were already 3 of our players against two of theirs leaving Hetate completely unmarked. Central defenders can’t get pulled out of position like that.
Also Aribo coming into shot can see him unmarked and doesn’t get over, goldson essentially marking 2 should be barking to get him marked.
    just completely unorganised and lazy

The team I listed there was based on the lineup available last night.
Im with you on Barisic, the backing off last night was just completely unacceptable. Don’t agree with roofe, Kent and amad, Kent is a player but I think he’s lost the buzz and probably needs sold, amad can’t be expected to be shit hot that quickly and Roofe is not a lone striker.
Mcgregor is certainly in his last season, the trouble is I don’t think McLaughlin is good enough for number 1 and I don’t think mccrorie is rated enough by the coaching staff for the last 2 managers.

1 point behind and two old firm games left….beyond belief anyone is saying that.
Probably the same people that thought we’d stroll last night and beat them comfortably and that signing Ramsey guaranteed the title.
Make no mistake this year is a proper title race and we need to be up for the fight.

Watching Barisic break away towards their half, encounter a defender, stop, turn and play it all the way back. The way to get at them was to go for it, Kent on the right Diallo on the left, hit the byeline, cut backs, drilled crosses, anything just to be more direct. We showed none of that, no urgency, no fight.

The big question is: are the players the reason for this and not listening to the manager or is the manager to blame and the players following instructions.
Anyone could see you don’t sit back against them, so we set up to sit back and contain and concede in a matter of minutes. Granted if Arfield had got onto the end of the through ball and made it 1-1 it could have been a very different outcome, but the general apathy and lack of fight is a real concern.
