They were all piss poor to be fair. 

I’m really confused at how we have used these preseason friendlies. With so many new players coming in they should have been used to work on the formation and players building understanding and relationships on the pitch. Fitness can be obtained on a training pitch. I don’t think we or the players know what formation or style we are meant to playing with. McLaughlin being given minutes tonight is utterly fucking baffling. What good comes of that? I’m concerned for the start of the season. I don’t think we can afford a slow start.

Seemingly it’s his preferred position. Strange that Beale hasn’t tried him there. Barisic and Ridvan haven’t been convincing. The clamour for Ridvan to play is basically because he isn’t Barisic. 

I think he's trying to convince himself, talking about taking on strong teams is all well and good but we've looked clueless so far and every player getting minutes is not going to help the starting eleven going into important matches.

We need to also remember that Tav and Borna are 2 years older now and the wrong side of 30. Doesn’t sound much but in footballing terms it can make a difference. Don’t think either of them have the legs these days to be the attacking force that compensates for the mistakes at the back. With such a narrow formation it means we have fuck all width.

I think this is a big problem we have. Yes he was good today but we need big game players. He was poor last week when we really need players on his type of wages to perform. He’s far from alone in that department but it’s a frustrating trend that we have players that look great when the pressure is off.  That is the main difference between us and them.

We seem to be a bit obsessed with a striker coming deep and linking play. Their strikers don’t do that as that is what their midfielders and wide players do. It’s not how most teams play either. Colak’s role should be to be in the right place at the right time and a bit of pressing out of possession. We need to get away from this thinking that Morelos dropping into midfield and playing shitey cross field passes is contributing.

You can’t teach it nor can he replicate it 😂
It’s one of those ones where if he was consistently good he wouldn’t be playing with us. Still very raw but hard to refine at his age.

At least one of us is confident that we’re capable of signing a decent replacement. We’ve had about 8 attempts to find somebody for the right hand side but working from a smaller pool of left sided players I’m sure we’ll be fine 👍🏻

Sakala always looked to me like an athlete who has chosen to play football.
There's definitely a player there though. It's too early to call him a great footballer, hope the guy develops. He looked unplayable at times tonight.

We can revisit this when he is gone and we have Matondo playing on the left. Kent is still one of our best players and yes his numbers can be much better but there is much more to his game. The reason Sakala had so much space tonight is because they were doubling up on Kent.

Our strikers are static. Basically need a ball laid on a plate for them. Morelos was terrible today, again. He’s become a big lump that offers nothing unless it falls in front of him. Remember the days when he used rag doll defenders about. 

No he’s not. Still our best player.
