Aubie92 got a reaction from WATP-FOREVER in Gerrard has Brendan rattled...
I'm basing him wanting out on him being linked to the Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham jobs this summer, even though he wasn't on the shortlist for any of them (or at least wasn't going by the leaked list of candidates in the press). Managers are no different to players in that respect; agents shop them about for better moves.
From celtic's point of view, he's on a big money contract with years left and run, so if another club had approached they'd have been due a hefty compensation fee - for a manager they clearly think has been backed enough in the transfer market, with a pretty poor record in it too.

You have nailed it. He wants out but needs to save face and the board want rid of without a pay out. The perfect marriage of inconvenience.

I don't think they'll sack him regardless of what happens this season. Both parties were hoping/expecting a big club to come in for Rodgers in the summer, resulting in compensation, and it hasn't happened. Now that Rodgers is either working his ticket or is actually so delusional he thinks he can win a public fight with his board, the chances of that ideal scenario for the tims is pretty much dead.
I think Rodgers would be reluctant to resign and walk away from the severance he'd be due if sacked, especially if he's not got another job lined up. But if we win the league this year under Steven Gerrard? He'll walk. He's not it in him to stick around and try to wrestle the title back in those circumstances; crumbles under pressure, and always will.

Lennon won't go there, which I'm happy with. As much as he likes his teams to play nice football, he's more interested in winning; got stick from tims when he was their gaffer for "not playing the celtic way." He's aware they're not going to heavily invest in the playing squad - as the wage bill is massive - and knows the fans expect ten in a row, so woe betide the manager who doesn't deliver.
As funny as his hissy fit over finishing fourth was, it does show he wants to do as well as he can. McInnes considers finishing behind celtic and/or above us a success, which is why he bottled the chance to win the league in 2015/16. Lennon knows Hibs won't win the league, but he'll still be setting them the target of challenging for it regardless. (Which is good for us too, incidentally - if teams like Hibs and Hearts aren't content to just be graced by celtic's presence, it puts then under more pressure.)
Can say the same about Steve Clarke at Killie too. The media slag Gerrard or Lafferty for aiming to win the league, but praised Clarke for it. Surely that should be the goal for teams like Hearts, Hibs, Killie and Aberdeen at the start of the season? Challenge for as long as possible. Interesting that celtic have dropped points to teams like Hearts, Hibs and Killie since they appointed gaffers who hate losing, yet the sheep could only get a win when celtic lay down.

As I've said before, whenever there's a press conference I'm rushing to the laptop to watch it. I feel like the post-match interviews have a significance that somehow they haven't had before.
I think it's because he is so measured and clear about everything, it's allowing the supporters to follow the progress very, very closely. And I think that's intentional on his part, he wants us to be involved and we are.  I respect the fuck out of him for this.

Aye. It's similar to Advocaat in the summer of 2001 - he's been told he's had enough backing and it's up to him to make it work. That many of his regular starters were at the club before him, despite him having five transfer windows, speaks volumes about his recruitment. celtic fans blame their chief scout, but it was the same at Liverpool.

Part of the blame for that rests with the way Blair handled invading Iraq and Afghanistan, and subsequent revelations from his own cabinet about it. Unfortunately the soldiers seem to be bear the brunt of it rather than politicians ever having to face consequences for their actions. If it was Tony Blair's son bring carved up on the street in broad daylight rather than Lee Rigby, I suspect the reaction to it would have been much different from the political class.
Even with that, we've went to a strange direction in the UK where the Irish republican propaganda and their versions of the troubles are largely accepted as truth, and our soldiers portrayed as butchers. Huge disservice done not only to the soldiers and the loyalists that lived through the troubles, but to the civilians murdered by the IRA whose families will never get justice. (Including Catholics who dared to do such heinous acts such as be civil to British soldiers.)

Strikers look a bit light, but I expect we'll bring another in during the January window - with Sadiq possibly leaving - and Dallas and Mebude will make a few appearances off the bench later in the season. (I think both of those two and Rudden look like they could make the grade, but realistically if one of the three does then it'll be a success for the academy.)

Brenda won fuck all in England,  seems a half decent  poundland  level  coach but certainly can't spot a player and his idea of "man management"  historically could well be construed as "unorthodox".

I had a look at his signings for Liverpool and while he signed 2 or 3 class players there were a lot more duds. Sounds very familiar
A few posted that when the taigs sqaud started to fill with his signings they would struggle. Starting to see it.

Sadly our government do not wish to offend the more than equal minorities, but it doesn't stop there.
This is where the yanks have got it right. They pay homage to their star spangled banner every morning in schools across the land, albeit from reports they could be doing more for their vets. It's all about taking pride in your country. You would be hard pushed to see a Union Jack flying on top of a publc building in the UK. The sublimnal message that sends is one of being ashamed of nationalism and nationhood.
The first thing you think of and associate with in seeing your flag flying high is your country and it's armed forces. Experience that sense of pride in who and what we are. Sadly in Britain today there is little of it as national identy is eroded to the point of extinction. Just look at Scotland FFS. Unless you are a tartan tranny plastic, you would be as well wearing a star of David on your chest and a bell round your neck. On any sucessful Indy, we become little Oirland and then watch the Saltire and Tricolour fly side by side on every public building in the land, as well private dwellings.
Little national pride in Britain these days I'm afraid and public displays of the armed forces celebrations kept to a minimum.. On Indy, Rememberence Day will probably be banned not to offend the plastics.
As I intimated previously, my Minister did not allow the Boys Brigade to march into the church hall with the Union Jack on their annual parade.  When I challenged him, he replied it was for fear of offending some of the congregation. I gave him a serious mouthful as to what the flag represents and why he was so wrong. They are now allowed into church with it! That story reflects the mentality that prevails, even from our own, particularly in this backwater.
A citizen of any nation state should be able to wear or fly their national flag with pride and without fear nor favour. NOT in this country!
Britain is a train wreck nationally and Scotland is an appeasing separatist taig infested shithole and government devoid of integrity and common decency as they appease minorities to the detriment of the majority.  National pride is a long forgotten ideal of the past and the armed forces to be vilified and marginalised.
When do we get our country and our national identity back?
We don't, whilst we appease the governments that we vote in out of some false sense of party loyalty. Year on year for the last fifty we have been robbed bit by bit of our freedoms, our culture and heritage, our way of life. We were led down the path of our extinction with our eyes wide shut.
Wear a Union Jack emblazoned on your chest or back and see how long it takes for the abuse and probably much worse.
Let a member of the armed forces in full uniform walk into a taig infested bar and see how long he lasts.
That's where we are at and we fucking accept it as the norm.
It is the majority who are left with tokenism. Britain and national pride is a contradiction in terms.
