Paulbrian11 got a reaction from Tearjerker in Gerrard agrees terms - unconfirmed
Mccoist understood what it meant to represent Rangers as a player, which he did spectacularly and nobody can take that away from him.
I think he understood what it meant to be manager too but didn’t possess the tools to do the job.  That doesn’t necessarily make him a bad person nor does it require character assassination but there’s no doubt he should have walked away after that season in the bottom tier as his lack of managerial nous had become painfully clear plus the madness of admin and beyond had taken its toll.  I’m glad he was there to protect us from title stripping.

He also had a very experienced assistant in Walter.

If I’ve learned anything in the last 6 years it’s always to assume the worst.  The timing of this is worrying, as is the lack of information.

There's been plenty to moan about justifiably. However, Steven Gérard taking over is a massive deal. I think it's a level headed expectation that major positive changes are about to happen at Rangers Football Club. The guy was the best in Britain for a decade. A truly massive name. It's understandable why some people are skeptical, but I think common sense tells you that major backing will be provided for players. Extremely optimistic about this.

I heard Danny Murphy talking about SG yesterday. He suggested that SG wouldnt go for it unless he was sufficiently backed financially.
He said he would only come up to be number one as thats the way he thinks. I get the feeling he fancies it but wont do it unless the board guarantee what he thinks it will take........i guess we will find out if the board is up for the challenge or not?

I may be bonkers but I am right — seems you think that we can just get promoted and then win the league! All we need is a ‘proven’ manager and hey presto everything is all right! You are still dealing with your sense of entitlement whilst I recognise that we have to fight for the right to be successful again and that is not a binary process.

    Here’s my take on it...
Experienced manager, (good experienced manager): looks at the Rangers job as a losing battle given the obvious lack of funds, one that could damage a career. Therefore there will be few of these candidates attracted to us.
Up and coming manager with some experience (McInnes type): As above, normally Rangers would be an attractive opportunity but given the lack of funds available and clear gap between us and them it’s a move that could derail a career. Expectations are to win regardless of how anyone wants to paint it, we all want to win the league next year and if we’re struggling the manager would be failing. Staying at “Aberdeen” and coming 3rd is acceptable. Therefore there will be few of these candidates attracted to us.
Tried & Tested (Walter Smith/souness type): As much as their heart would love another shot at it they too know that it’s a massive task given above reasons and they’ll be better enjoying their retirement.
So Rangers are struggling to pitch this job to any of the managers with attributes that we want. Appointing a very average manager would be deflating and would do nothing for our ‘profile’...... Profile!!! Now there’s an interesting one..
A big name footballer who has captained club and country, has massive respect in the game in Britain looking for that first step in management: He would attract a whole load of attention to our club, thus improving our profile. His managerial career wouldn’t be damaged if he failed to overtake them, he would still have respect for giving it a go. He would gain the experience and we would lift the profile of the club and he could be as good a manager as he was a player!
I genuinely think Rangers were/are struggling to pitch the job to most respected managers, Stevie G is a clever move IMO. There will be huge interest in Rangers if Stevie is announced, it might even spark ‘investment’... Investment!!! Now there’s an interesting one!!

Every Rangers fan I know in real life, especially those my age or younger have nothing but admiration and respect for Barry.  In fact he was a lot of our younger fans hero when they were growing up.
I keep seeing frequent snidey digs aimed at him on forums that ye never hear in real life.  Fuck knows why that is.
    Anyway, he’s spot on here.

This is what happens when you sign no mark fenians.  No standards anymore.
At least the likes of MoJo and Neil McCann gave their all, that slimy cunt ohalleron has clearly resented every second he’s spent with us.
