NEIL DANNS will pick Rangers ahead of Celtic if he gets the choice.

Both sides of the Old Firm are eyeing the out-of-contract Crystal Palace midfielder.

SunSport revealed on Saturday how Gers boss Ally McCoist wants to sign the 28-year-old former Birmingham City ace.

Celtic gaffer Neil Lennon has also been keeping tabs on the player.

But Danns's agent Derek Green admits the lure of Champions League football with Rangers next season would be too hard to resist if it the clubs do battle for his signature.

Green, who has still to receive official contact from Rangers, said: "You only have one career and you want to maximise that.

"Rangers are playing Champions League football next season and that doesn't come along every day.

"If that comes along then of course he is going to take it."

Leicester, are also keen on Danns who returns from holiday this week. But Green insists the player is in no rush to sign for anyone.

Green said: "Even though no one's been in touch you'd hold off because if the speculation is true then there could be Champions League football next year. When you come from somewhere like Crystal Palace and you could get the chance to play Champions League football you wouldn't rush into signing for someone else.

"Until you get that call either way then you have to leave your options open.

"We have got until August 31 to decide where he wants to be.

"Waiting another two weeks or so isn't going to kill him.

"The ball is in his court and he has earned the right to be in this position.

"He is a fantastic person first and foremost and then he is a footballer - it is not often we get that. He is a smashing lad and deserves what he gets."

Not really sure on this one. Sometimes he looks a decent player, others not been impressed.

Was reading a 17 page thread on Crystal Palace forum and it seems pretty mixed. Most believe he is replaceable and many say his best qualities are his non stop work rate and 'harrying'

Never impresses me when people talk about someone's work rate before their ability. On a free he might be worth the punt as back up to to Davis.

Read a post claiming the SPL is league one level, hate those pathetic comments by the English.

Outwith us and the scum I wouldnt disagree with that..look at the rest results in Europe..appalling standard.

Crystal Palace midfielder Neil Danns could be tempted to Ibrox with the lure of Champions league football, according to his agent.

The 28-year-old is at the end of his current contract and Rangers are thought to be weighing up a Bosman move. Other clubs, including Celtic, are reportedly interested but the player’s representative says that an Ibrox switch holds appeal as he considers his future.

No official approach has been made by Rangers but agent Derek Green told the Scottish Sun: “You only have one career and you want to maximise that.

“Rangers are playing Champions League football next season and that doesn’t come along every day.

“If that comes along then of course he is going to take it.”

Green made it clear that the player would delay committing his future to another club in the hope that Rangers firm up their interest.

“Even though no one’s been in touch you’d hold off because if the speculation is true then there could be Champions league football next year,” he said.

“When you come from somewhere like Crystal palace and you get the chance to play Champions League football you wouldn’t rush into signing for someone else. Until you get that call either way then you have to leave your options open.”

The agent said that Danns was prepared to be patient and was in no hurry to sign with the transfer window remaining open until the end of August.

Sounds like he really wants to come here.

He's comfy anywhere in midfield, out wide or in the centre.

If the money's right, he should be a definite.

ohright ok (Y) thought he was a cm but after watching the video clip he looked more like a winger. either way i hope he signs :)
