Is This The End for Doncaster?

Wish we had drawn Annan in the Ramsden Cup today...............would have been good to have helped this type of Club and their Chairman out, only one with some backbone yesterday.

A DEAL to form the Scottish Professional Football League was agreed at midnight last night — 15 HOURS after club chiefs turned up at Hampden.

The reason for the delay was caused by the SPL’s refusal to supply SFL clubs with the information they needed to examine the potential liabilities involved in joining with the top division.

And despite the SPFL being formed, Annan chairman Henry McClelland slammed the new deal as a ‘shambles and a mess.’

Despite the SFL demanding more detail from the SPL over a month ago it was only yesterday — after the SFL board admitted it could not approve the merger with what they had in front of them — they were provided with it.

Once due diligence had been done, and lawyers from both sides had had their say, all 30 SFL clubs had to resign and apply to join the new organisation.

Late last night the farce took another twist when they immediately held another meeting to vote for the members of the six-man SPFL board.

These will consist of three members from the top division — to be known as the Premiership — two from the First Division, and one representative from Leagues One and Two.

However, the role of SPFL chief executive remains vacant for now and it will be filled following a selection process.

One possible outcome of yesterday’s farce is the new organisation will be looking to make big changes.

SFL chief David Longmuir is understood to be leaving with a pay-off.

But his opposite number at the SPL, Neil Doncaster, could also face the boot.

Doncaster earns £200,000-per-year, but SPL chairman have questioned his botched handling of the reconstruction issue.

There is a growing feeling that, since his main role is merely to carry out the wishes of the member clubs, there is no need to pay top dollar for the job, and his wage would be better used on hiring a marketing guru who could bring more money in.

Annan chairman McClelland said: “I feel sorry for the fans because this just comes across as an absolute shambles and a mess — and to be blunt, it is.

“It should never have got to this state.”

Peter likes Doncaster, he confirmed this when the 12-12-18 proposal hit the buffers, "Neil did everything possible to push this through,no one could have worked harder". Just like Stewart Regan's tenure is assured because he remains Peter's man; then Doncaster is a shoo-in for the job.

Doncaster will have made sure he is alright out of this

What concerns me more is that the board is made up of guys from clubs. Surely a massive conflict of interest there.

Who decides this and does it change or is it like the UN Security Council permanant members? Will we get the chance to be on it?

Him and Longmuir are in the running to be the CEO. Who decides who get the job?

Any normal person would go for longmuir.

Guess what mate ,the newly appointed 6man board will make that decision .How very cosy and convenient eh . What the fuck is wrong with this Country .While we are in this abortion of a football set up which has been going downhill rapidly under these decision makers .We now expect the same pricks that helped ruin our game to still be in charge after these 6men do their worst .Is it any wonder we are the laughing stock of world football .
