AlBear. 8,499
With our game against Newcastle tonight I believe we should play our strongest team whether they are eligible to play til September or not. Which got me thinking about our squad and who is our best player.Thought I'd make a poll to see how wide the spectrum of opinion is when it comes to deciding who that player is.Apologies if I didn't include someone who you think should be there or included someone who you don't think should be there. If you could try and explain your opinion for your choice it would be appreciated. AlBear. 8,499
My choice is for Macleod. He has tremendous drive and energy coupled with technique and vision. He was arguably, before his injury, our most consistent player last year. The biggest compliment I can pay him is that when he was out injured, in a squad containing McCulloch, Little, Templeton, Shiels, Wallace etc, we missed his influence in the team and for an 18 year old that is impressive no matter the quality of opposition. I realise the title specified currently but I feel the potential for progression in the future should also be a factor in the decision, and as good as I think Lewis is now I can see him becoming so much better.I'm sure many will have Wallace as a stick on for this, and for good reason too. However having watched him closely the second half of last season his form dropped off significantly, as with the majority of the squad. He is still capable of producing dynamic and influential performances but, to me, he doesn't appear to be enjoying his football (who can blame him) and that is affecting the levels of his performances.Law is another possibility. Having watched brief highlights of him through preseason he looks a very strong and complete player, but by that same token I don't think I've seen enough of him to base a judgement on.Templeton is another candidate. On his day he is our best player by miles, but his issues with consistency and decision making rule him out for me.

Sweeney 241
Playing at full potential, Templeton hands down for me. Unfortunately we rarely see it, but you rarely see those types of players playing well every game. He reminds me of Aluko, in that he can single handedly change a game with a bit of brilliance even when not playing that well. Templeton, Sheils, Law and MacLeod are potentially better than our Pre-admin midfield IMO and at a fraction of the wages. Hopefully they all stay fit and we get to see if I'm right or not. willygers4life 1,031
MacLeod, basically same reasoning as Al, MacLeods drive last season was what we needed and could see his quality when he was injured, with how bad the team played when he was out
loyalfollower 1,543
Best player at the moment is indeed law. Hands down. Macleod looks to be still recovering from injury and hopefully will pick up the pace in the next few weeks. Bet no one picks ian black!

RD.1872 890
Went for Wallace. Barring injury, Macleod has the potential to be the best player we've had in years imo.
