Kenny Miller - signing talks tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Ah so because they went to Well, we should have got them instead?

Nothing to do with them looking for European football...

Ainsworth went to Motherwell AFTER they had been knocked out of Europe, on an initial six month loan deal. So in his case you are right...nothing to do with European football. Anier wasnt even getting first team football at a club that were desperate to offload him, so in his case your probably right again and it had nothing to do with European football.

The point is that there were better players than the ones McCoist went after, who were available for less money.

And what about the players who left Motherwell, probably all of them had been better players, and provided Motherwell with a better return, than Law. How many of them went to a team which was competing in European competition? None!

Future prospects! Given that they just finished 2nd!

Don't try to say that us being out of europe for at least another season is not a factor in players coming to Ibrox or not.

None of the players that left Motherwell, at the same time as Law, signed for a team that was competing in European competition. It wasnt a factor in their decision.

Im kinda torn over this Miller / Boyd idea.

One hand they're guys who know the club and the demands and will score plenty, plus Miller would be a decent mentor to Clark, Boyd will stay for rest of his career and does what he does better than anyone in Scotland.

They're guaranteed not to be failures such as Kyle/Sandaza/Daly (certain extent) have been.

But hate the backwards thinking and 'easy' option Ally is taking.

Point is clear. Stop ducking it.

Like it or not, signing for Motherwell is and has been a more attractive option than signing for us.

We get mercenaries or last big move seekers.

Hindsight is great - what would have happened with a team of 22 -25 year olds getting stuck in Div 3 or this season?

Simple answer-the cry would be to sign experience. No win situation.

Totally agree except for the mentoring Clark. To be honest if he was good enough he'd be forcing himself in the first 11, he's not a kid.

Boyd and Miller would be great but it does feel an admission of defeat in bringing through youngsters.

I was reading about the Scotland Under 17s. Unlikely but wouldn't it be amazing if we announced the goalie (McCrorie) would be the Rangers number 2 next year? That is the sort of mentoring/first team squad experience that would be of genuine benefit.

Im not ducking it, im answering it head on. You seem to be claiming that we cant sign players due to lack of European competition. I have disproved this.

If signing for Motherwell was such a better proposition then why didnt Law extend his contract? He was offered more money to go south than we were offering and yet he took the path to Ibrox.

The point is simple. We could have signed experienced (proven) players based on what they had done in the previous two years for a fraction of what we spent on guys who had been less than effective.

Law was the least effective member of the Motherwell team that he left. Six or seven guys all having been better than him.

This is NOT hindsight it is based on what players have ALREADY done.

their talking about it....

Ok, well I'm off home now, so depending on what happens:

A. That's a fucking disgrace, signing a player of his age, no sell on value, give youth a chance, no philosophy etc.

B. That's a fucking disgrace can't even get someone like him to sign for us, what's happened to us? He's obviously got no faith in the coaching team, busted flush etc

C. That's a fucking disgrace, MSM printing stories without substantial evidence, sick of these cunts.

D. Tell't you, the Board have stepped up and put their money where their mouth is, get out and but your STs

E. That's it, fuck the Board, spunking aw the money away on has beens, Boycott STs now

Signing for Motherwell more attractive than signing for us? would Templeton,Bell, or Black have went to Motherwell? They would have went to the championship.

Put simply...we have more money than Motherwell, we play in front of 50000 fans, and we will be challenging for the Scottish Premiership title in the next 3-4 years,as well as competing in Europe (group stage)....Motherwell won't.

The reason Well fans were so annoyed that Law signed for us wasn't for his personal well-being, it was because it showed 2 divisions down (and with no Europe) we're a more attractive proposition than they are.

Cant really disagree with the thrust of your post. Maybe not the optimism but your point is bang on.

My point was that, of all the guys from that Motherwell team, who we could have signed we picked probably the one that was least effective in that team. Even the guys that were brought in to replace the players they lost are better than the ones we signed.
