AlBear. 8,499
Congrats to the wee man on his goal tonight. By the sounds of the reports on Rangers.co.uk he put in a good shift. http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/7725-dean-got-his-reward I've always had a lot of time for Deano, or Dean De Boer as some know him, and believed he can be a more than useful addition to our squad over the long run. He's a bit of an enigma with his 'best position' but for me he appears a natural number 10. Able to link midfield to attack and capable of taking his goals tally to double figures each season.Had a torrid time of injuries in his Rangers career so far. Being 29 he's not going to progress any further but, imo, his game isn't based on speed so I think he can go on for a fair few years yet.Do we think he can be a mainstay in our squad over the next few years? Dutchy 1,200
I don't know about a mainstay, but he should be playing just behind the strikers as a link to the midfield. Would make the kicking the ball up field even less useful, but then again.........
cumnockbear 2,446
Don't think he's one of Ally's favourites so no, but pleased he got a goal tonight it sounded a peach.

BlueSuedeSambas 54,488
A reasonably talented lad who has the talent to have a team built around him at clubs with a certain level of expectation.Unfortunately he lacks the consistency required to ever have that level of faith put him by a club the size of ours.If he's out of contracr this Summer he is a player we could move on and he would literally be forgotten about within a few days and probably never thought of or mentioned again. RFC RYAN 2,967
Don't think he's one of Ally's favourites so no, but pleased he got a goal tonight it sounded a peach.Excellent goal and like him in the number 10 role.
Wearethepeople72 1,847
He isn't exactly first choice but having players like him who can come in and play when we have injuries or need to rotate the squad is a bonus.
onefootwillie 1,519
Not for me he seems to disappear during most games and I don't thinks he shows up on the big games
Ivybank 4,636
Good goal tonight, but he was dreadful like the rest of the team, but as long as we won, away to the sheep In the next round
Balgreen Bear 15
I do like Dean Shiels but we have never seen the best of him at Rangers. Such a waste of talent though there is no way on Gods earth he deserves his £7k a week salary! Not his fault of course.
the goal machine 7,818
Always thought he tended to hide when the going got tough but he scored a crucial goal tonight so fair play to him.
now then forever 298
No, he's had about half a dozen good games out of 40 odd. Not good enough. Will do a job as a squad player until his contract runs out.
King Jela 20,667
Frustrating. He's got obvious talent, we don't always see it though...We've barely seen it since his arrival.
topgoalie 637
A potential match winner..... and we don't have many of them.
Dunny_01 2,007
I really like him, he is very itelligent, and would set chances up for boyd from forward positions, He was good tonight, and I would keep in in team.Well Done Dean Shiels, and good decision Ally not playing Boyd and Daly together. 1 other thing ...Fraser Aird needs dropped for a few games....... Templeton has to start and ty and improve his consistancy.
Starving Hagler 38
Quite simply, like so many other members of our present squad, he is not up to the standard nor consistency required to make us the premier team in a Scotland again. there'sonlyoneamoruso 1,724
I like Shiels and if he can stay injury free and geta run of games I think we'll start to see his worth. His return to the starting lineup last night was a bit of a surprise, but he appears to have taken the opportunity with both hands, so good on him! Softens the loss of Clark and Macleod a little too when he slots into the team seamlessly like that.Keep up the good work Dean and you might change peoples opinions! RFCstuart 317
Glad he got his goal and I'm sure he was involved in the first one too, but he missed a couple of good chances. His finish looked decent, not sure if it came off the keeper or anything though was hard to see.
tartansmokie 36
Shiels has the talent but not the consistency. Would love to see him string a few good games together.
Big Al 55 9,311
He'll be a world beater for a month before his contract is up for renewal. Given plenty of chances and was a complete passenger.Huge disappointment

Such a waste of talent though there is no way on Gods earth he deserves his £7k a week salary! Not his fault of course. You don't know how much Deano is on on a week so stop talking pish.I think a combination of injury and inconsistency will see his Rangers career end when his contract is up.. Which is sad in a way as i had high expectations for the lad.
