So why support Rangers?

It can't be because your family supports Rangers because you don't need the accident of birth and the familial associations to prop up your support.

It can't be because your friends support Rangers as your support doesn't rely on such external factors.

It can't just be because you're from Glasgow/Scotland as you don't need the "add on" of parochialism to prompt your support.

It can't be because Rangers are the world's most successful club because that would be glory hunting, a trait universally despised in football.

It can't be because of the shared history and traditions as these are unnecessary "add ons".

So why do you support Rangers?

It's number 4! I'm a glory seeking bastard awaiting 55! ( and a Scottish Cup on Sunday)

Excellent point.

How many, on here, could honestly say they started supporting Rangers because they personally believed in Protestantism, unionism, royalism, etc?

I was a Hearts fan until I was 30, been a proud Ger for 25 years, that's the reasons I support Rangers.

I don't ask people either but the English ones I'm referring to they tend to tell me or I know - in fact take great in telling me they love Rangers and then why.

Imo there probably are thousands of English people that like Rangers for they reasons - if I know of a few hundred what about the ones I don't know? England is a big place

al you have made an Arse of yourself with that last post to me and you know it especially since I explained it to you hence the nonsense about next week being a dozen

have a nice night at work - are you enrolled in some Government scheme that has companies take on ex Junkies?

I've made an arse of myself? I'm not the one claiming to speak on behalf of hundreds of Rangers fans about why they support Rangers. If your moniker was R.S.T instead of K.A.I you'd probably get more shit for that.

Although you amend your point again in this post admitting it is your opinion rather than intimating it as a fact like you have before. I'd suggest trying to expand the hundreds of English Rangers fans purely because of PUL you know across all of England is naive as you've said before you won't associate with people who don't share your views. So it is unlikely you'd know any other type of Rangers fan than those you associate with like yourself.

It is genuinely the cushiest job I've ever had. Get paid for 7 hours a night  and spend about half of it sitting in the van waiting to unload the cargo. Easy money, and lots of free time to do drugs and shit. :pipe:

The snp only back this law for one reason and that's to control and persecute the Establishment and what they see as the rallying point Unionist club and its fans in Scotland! They hope to weaken the resolve by their constant intimidation through the alleged sectarian lie whilst ignoring their rhepublican allies the filth in the east end. The Rangers fans are now galvanised against them and anybody who is not like minded is no Rangers fan!:sherlock:

Why do you never hear BP9's opinions being shared in a pub/bus/at Ibrox?

I would love an answer.

Probably because they would catch the same amount of criticism and abuse as they do on here. It's pretty obvious.

People tend to talk about football at the football rather than politics or religion.

Or is that just silly?

With the uncomfortable political cosyness of the SNP government & Police Scotland I would not be in the least bit suprised if the Cup FInal came in for some particularly "robust" Policing with regard to this Act . My advice would be not only to tread, but sing very carefully Bears.

Bizarre to change the team you support at the age of thirty, for those reasons, considering we'd just had two very successful years from Mojo. A signing which moved our 'signing policy' away from one of the reasons you apparently support us.

ForeverAndEver, my arse!

People dont talk about politics or anything else in Rangers pubs and buses naw? They only talk about the football and thats it?

Christ the handwringers are really cluthcing at straws today.

These folk must feel like right fannies during OF games when the whole crowd joins in with Derrys Walls and Rule Britannia, and the handwringers either sit quietly or become plastic loyalists for the day. A bit pathetic imo. Im a Unionist, if I went to see a football game and the entire crowd around me was singing "Stick your union up yer arse" or singing nationalist songs and singing fuck the Queen I certainly wouldnt sit through it, but some have zero conviction.

And they'll all come out and claim that folk like myself are saying that nationalists cant support Rangers, im not saying that, im just saying it baffles me that you do because you must just go to games (id bet many of them dont even go to games), sit quietly while we sing songs that you dont like, then go home, and never go to any Rangers nights or have a sing song in a Rangers pub, must be the most boring way to support a team ever. Never taking part in the songs and the banter because you think its offensive and sectarian. Id just go and watch the rugby if I hated every other aspect of my Football Club apart from the football.

It's probably because those with BP9's opinions are in the minority, among the Rangers' support. There's naturally less chance of you hearing those opinions in such environments.

I can understand someone who doesnt particularly like the loyalist aspect of the support maybe sitting quiet and not saying anything about the songs etc in a Rangers pub. But BP9 isnt somoene who just doesnt particularly like the PUL aspect of the support - he despises it.

Its not like he just makes a wee comment, he actively seeks out arguments with loyalists. It must boil his blood when we sing the Sash.

Every single time anything to do with the PUL is mentioned BP9 goes off on one, ranting and raving, you can tell it really annoys him.

But he sure as fuck doesnt say anything at Ibrox or the pubs or on a RSC bus. Yet he has the cheek to claim some of us are only vocal because were on an internet forum

He rants and raves on here, then sits quietly at Ibrox or in the pub. Because he knows hed get ridiculed as much as he does on here. The reason he doesnt mention it anywhere else is because he knows at best he'll get laughed at, and if he talked to folk about the PUL the way he does on here he'd be likely to end up with a sore face. Which is why he comes on here to be the pariah, hes needs a safe place to vent after sitting through a game listening to us singing a songbook that he hates.

The strangest example of an 'outsider' supporting one of the Old Firm clubs was a young lad in NI who was a member of the UDA, but a Celtic fan.
