Probably as rare as last time u posted it To avoid any confusion on two dates on the programme, Stadionul August 23 is not the date of the match but was the original name of the ground. According to the Glasgow Rangers Collectors Club guide to Rangers programmes published in 1989, there was no programme for this match It could well be a pirate and possibly rare. Don54 25,576
Rangers v Akademisk Boldklub Friendly 14.8.1950 2-1 Attendance 50,000 Rangers Goalscorers, Findlay, Rutherford The Rangers Team Brown, Young, Lindsay, McColl, Woodburn, Cox, Rutherford, Findlay, Thornton, Paton, Wright In May of 1950 Rangers again accepted an invitation to play 3 challenge matches in Copenhagen winning two and losing one to Akademisk Boldklub (note 2). The gauntlet had been thrown down for a return match in Glasgow and Rangers defeated Akademisk 2-1 on 14th August 1950 (note 3), thus maintaining their record of never having lost to a foreign side at home. Carl Hansen had been invited to accompany the Danes as RangersÂ’ guest of honour. However before football matters were to be taken into consideration, Carl had only one thought. His first action on reaching Glasgow was to go and visit RangersÂ’ legendary manager Bill Struth, a patient in the Victoria Infirmary, who had been a second father to him during his time in Glasgow. Before the match he received a huge ovation from the Ibrox crowd and afterwards he presented Rangers Chairman John Wilson with a beautiful vase of Danish china, which can still be found in the Rangers trophy room today.
