I understand your sentiment though. van bronckhorst looked incredible up here as a left sided central midfielder, he ended up playing his career at arsenal and Barca as a left back. so, point I’m making, although absolutely outstanding footballer, no way was he sliding into these teams midfields ahead of the players on their books at the time. saying that, yes, if he signed for a Bolton, a Sunderland etc then yes, doesn’t mean he would have coasted it. look at Reyna, struggled at Sunderland. id say take the league into account.
