He's a poor defender but this team relies on his output more than any other player. Agreed but it needs to change with less reliance on his attacking attributes as defensively he is a weak link. Get the recruitment correct in forward positions has to be a priority moving forward.
Drumloyal 15,616
He was extremely poor today and i criticised him heavily in the match thread but everybody has an off day. Defo one who will only be truly appreciated when he's gone. To be fair, he really does have a weakness in his game when defending, especially since his pace has dwindled in the last 2-3 years. Thing is Tav does bail us out time and time again, he's our best bet for a crucial goal and without him we are fucked because no one else hits his numbers. Until that changes he stays and plays. Again though today his only contribution is to convert a penalty, and if we are honest then every team should have at least 4 or 5 of their starting 11 who are confident enough to take a penalty Like you said they all had shockers, including tav who was again targetted by an opposition manager crazy bob swollenbaws

Always has done, if we aren't conceding at his back post its the other back post from a cross from his side He's never been a good defender and 4 managers now have never tried to sort it somehow (not counting warburton or pedro)

We still have a soft centre defensively and Tav for all his attacking qualities is culpable for that along with Goldson.

He was poor today bit still got us out a hole with a huge pressure penalty. We sadly don't have other players who look like they can take them like he does. I get he's bad in defence and it does costs us but the pros outweigh the cons and we need him. I slate him but he been one of the best players in my time following Rangers. Brackley Bluenose 4,482
OP is a cunt and so is anyone agreeing with him. Guy is a fucking hall of famer with stats that are quite literally remarkable. The fact he has one or two frailties is the exact reason we’ve been lucky enough to have him for so long because he’d be playing for a far superior team given his numbers and constant availability if he was as good defensively as he is going forward OrangeRab

Arguably had he not fluffed the penalty then his volley isn't needed And again we should have 4 or 5 in the team capable of banging in penalties Ask yourself this, when was last time tav played well over 90mins against the tarriers, not just a free kick or 2 in singular incidents, but over the 90mins you think "he's absolutely bossed that right hand side" Tav, amongst others, haven't played well against them for ages now
