You’ll have the happy clappers on deriding you but two competitive games into the season we are turning to Scott Wright, who has been told he has no future.
We’ve spent £15 million odd on attackers.

I managed not to come on and have a rant on Saturday... but here I am.
I'm always the first to say pre-season means nothing (including beating the likes of madrid)
However.... the alarm bells were ringing big style during this pre-season, because I've no clue what we were trying to do or how we were trying to play.
This summer was a big one with the likes of Kent, morelos and tillman leaving. it was fairly clear what their strengths were (I'll ignore the many faults for now)
Kent brought movement and the technical ability to beat a man, plus draw in defenders and adds width to the side.
Alfie at his best, was a menace, could bully defenders and would move around the pitch to draw defenders into all kinds of positions and open up gaps.
Tillman felt the ball was glued to his feet, seemed to have the knack of getting into the right areas and offered a goal threat from midfield.
These abilities would need to be replaced when considering new signings
I think we could also see the problems in the team, sure we knew Jack and Lundstram were robust and great at points in the past, but you could see the tactics and formation used by Steven Gerrard had become predictable.
It didn't need adapted it needed a change. Personnel needed changed, the squad a revamp. It was time to cash in on some players and overhaul our style of play.
So far we have sold only Antonio Colak.
The likes of Kamara and Sakala will most likely join him. The latter divides fans, because despite the fact he is by no means a natural finisher and (like many before him) lacks that final quality that we so badly crave... he is also the only outlet with pace that has provided some sort of decent return goals wise.
I don't think we expected to move everyone on, but I think having seen what happened with Kent and Morelos, more sales were expected. Is this the time to cash in on the likes of Borna, John Lundstram, Scott Wright, Ben Davies, Matondo, Hagi. Are Tav and Goldson indispensable? Are the likes of Roofe, Lawrence or as harsh as it seems Ofoborh going to contribute a lot?
The fans understand that there are quota's to fill from a european point of view. Mccrorie, Kieran Wright, John Souttar, Ryan Jack fill 4 of those 8 places. I think its a poor sign is that the club haven't developed anyone outwith Nathan Patterson and Billy Gilmour who could have stepped into those slots, but have left the club. Hopefully some of those of a younger age and be part of our bench this season will kick on and fill this quota in year's to come.
It's also poor that they haven't signed anyone of a good enough level from Scottish teams, apart from souttar, to fill one of those spots. No doubt there is a limitednpool of talent to choose from but you see the likes of Max Johnston, Lewis Ferguson and think could they have been at that level?
This was a huge task for Michael Beale and the club to get things right in the summer. Management had to get tactics spot on to be successful in both domestic and European games. This also meant he had to have the right personnel for each.
We've spent something like 15 million bringing in Butland, Balogun, Sterling, Dowell, Cifuentes, Sima, Lammers, Dessers & Danillo. Sure there was some excitement around the names but also some concerns remained.
Are the goal returns good enough?
Have we replaced the missing attributes from those who have left?
Are these the signings to deliver our expectations?
One of the biggest issues with Rangers under Gio and last season, was we looked like we had an over reliance on balls coming in from barisic and tav in almost 'ping it in and hope' something comes off. We really struggled at points, especially against teams who sat in, to break them down or show we were anything other than pedestrian or predictable.
What an opportunity for Beale to show he would bring in a new exciting era of players who could do that. Players with a freshness and energy about them that could change the dynamics of the team. Early signs were promising as both Cantwell and Raskin looked the part when they arrived in January.
We needed a team that would play high up the park, have a rugged determination to grab the game by the scruff of the neck, press high, play fast passes and would move and interchange positions, unsettle those well organised teams and make it difficult for them throughout the game.
Then the starting 11 was announced and Cantwell was dropped. That was the first question. Why drop the man who was in great form at the end of last season. One of the few players that the fans were almost 100 per cent in favour of keeping. I think possibly only Raskin would be a contender if we were asked 'who must stay/must start' out from last year's side.
The game was woeful and as we saw in preseason, we looked like the same tired and predictable side of last year, but with less width and pace. It was woeful.
There is huge pressure already on Beale after one game and whilst one very bad result doesn't mean its over, the level of play throughout pre season has been no where near what's needed.
The likes of Danilo and Cifuentes will already have huge hopes pinned on them to transform and energise that side, which might be harsh.
I feel like this team still needs a minimum of 4 signings to be competitive at league and european levels. I'm not sure we will see those number come in.
It truly is time for all at the club to step up and deliver and I hope these players have a lot more to offer than what we've seen so far.

celtic’s tactics under Ange weren’t even that complicated. How many times, especially against us did they score the same goal where Kyogo went front post and the opposite wide player came in at the back post to get on the end of a end of what was usually a low driven cross?
We get it wide, launch the ball in high and usually with no pace, defenders head it away. Rinse and repeat for 90 minutes, with added emphasis placed on it when or if we go behind.
I didn’t see much, if any of us in pre season, but on the basis of that yesterday there appears to be no guile, no creativity, no pace in our play, no urgency, no hunger and despite this apparent hard pre season we didn’t look any fitter either. It’s a real concern and not one that Beale will be able to talk his way out of. He needs to start getting results quickly, or he will be chased before he knows it.

We don't need someone like Jimmy Bell what we need is a manager who has a vision of how he wants the team to play. Also have a joined up thinking about what type of player we want along with the positions. We just seemed to have bought lots of forward players but Beale does not have a plan how to get the ball into them other than cross it. Mental to think today was crying out for someone like Arfield who could be a good shout to come on and change a game when the defence seems impenetrable.

Tonight was dreadful but people really need to get a grip
A couple of seasons ago we got beat by Tranmere yet drew with Arsenal and beat Madrid, it's really not important. If we don't up it against Killie and Genk/Servette we can start to have a moan.
Imo the only thing worth worrying about just now is the left hand side of the defence.

All the players we've signed or are targeting, answer honestly .. did you know anything about them?
You read loads of opinion about how "he's shite" or "he's going to be brilliant for us" and my own honest answer is I've never heard of one of them.
I watch Rangers play, I watch EPL football and that's about it.
I absolutely listen to various pods and read articles that'll do deep dives on the player but they'll, ultimately, give their own opinion on whether the player will be good or bad.
EVERY signing we make has a risk to it, even good players can find our jersey to heavy to wear & all we can do is trust in the manager & his staff to have identified correctly, certainly any mistakes made will need to be owned by Beale as this is clearly his rebuild.

If you've got the choice of either Jack or Arfield for a new contract it would be Arfield for me. Jack's finished as a footballer at this level.
Only reason to keep Jack around will be as a 3rd choice DM vastly reduced contract which I doubt is what is actually happening.

We will have continuity. Tav, Barasic, Goldson, Souttar, Lundstrum, Raskin, Cantwell, Sakala, Lawrence, Roofe etc will all be here. Thats a full team right there. celtic have 1 player (McGregor) still starting from the 55 season.
Then at best we’ll probably only be able to shift about half of the Matondo, Davies, Hagi, Wright etc of the world
Then you have King, Devine, Lowry etc coming through
The squad is fucking massive. We don’t need to be thinking about signing Arfield, Davis, Jack to new deals for continuity. Continuity of what? The shite mentality embedded in the squad?
We need to be going after quality players to win the title and younger talents with the potential to fund future investments.
We need to get this squad player/continuity idea in the bin

We will probably win with a john Lundstrum volley that is deflected off Morelos's arse after he has come on as an 86th minute sub and the majority of people there have went up the road with boredom. The former will be rewarded with a new 3 year contract, the latter a free meal whilst the rest will big it up on social media ignoring the fact that any of the 3 games we needed to win we effed it.

Obviously the years from 2012 to 2017 were all about getting back to the top league and rebuilding. However the last 6 seasons have mostly been down to extremely poor corporate management and mostly woeful football management.
Poor financial and strategic decisions such as the total failure to implement a player trading model - not cashing in on assets when they have a high value and then letting their contracts run out and also some of the inexplicable transfer and loan signings.
We've spent money but mostly what we've spent has been spent poorly and we've missed out on paydays for the likes of Morelos, Kent and Kamara.
The brief and sparse successes such as #55 and the European runs have only been masking the abysmal failures.

gj923 reacted to PromDeAnglais in Summer will see the biggest changes at Rangers in years
Everyone on here could see a massive overhaul was needed last summer. The Europa run felt like an end of an era. There should have been a massive clear out.
Davis, McGregor, Arfield. Thanks for the memories and enjoy your retirement. They haven't ruined their legacies by staying but now leave after a shitshow of a season. Scottish Cup win last season should have been the send off.
Kent and Morelos. Sign or GTFO.
Kamara, should have been sold if he wanted to go.
Deadwood like Helander, Wright, McLaughlin should have been moved on or loaned out.
Now we need to trust the same board that pulled the wool over our eyes last summer to now do an even bigger rebuild because all of the aforementioned players are still an issue PLUS there are other players like Sakala, Hagi, Roofe, Matondo, Yilmaz and Davies who they themselves recruited aren't good and/or consistent enough for Rangers.
Call me cynical but I don't think this board has it in them for the task at hand.

Doubt it as we are guaranteed group stage football which is the boards aim (or was). Added to that we will see the end of the contracts of a good few players that are probably costing us 100-150k per week.
CL qualification could see an extra signing

If you look back to before he came in we where making peanuts from the commercial side compared to what we should have. So anyone decent coming in would have increased it. Was/Is he the best person for commercial side - No as he signed us up for quite a few turkeys which has devalued the brand just to bring in a wee bit more revenue. Is he the worst - nope as has increased it by over 10M but some of that might be down to 55 and more shirt etc sales.
However in what way is he qualified for the CEO role which is a mixture of diplomacy, making sure all the departments talk to each other, knowing when to force sales through whilst maximising revenue from them, managing the playing budget, being the public face of Rangers amongst many other things I have no idea about. It seems a lazy ill though out appointment.
