Could argue the players coming in are fighting to be considered for the cup semi final - so maybe more motivated than players trying to avoid injury??

First name on the team sheet on Wednesday has to be Morelos - we don't have a player that plays his role.
Confident if he's back that we'll start to score far more freely and be far better at breaking down defensive systems. As McCann points out, you need a player between the two banks of five and that's what Alfie does, with a physicality that we don't have with any other layer in the squad.
Out of jail with that today, got to resume normal service on Wednesday and properly ramp up the pressure on them.

Ryan Jack has already made a clear statement he wants to represent Scotland
As have a number of our Scottish players who want to represent their country

McGregor retired because he wanted to concentrate on club football
I support my club and country - not really hard to understand. I'm not a Scot who wants to pretend to be English, Irish or Norn Irish (a bit too McGeadyesque for me). The players want to represent their country - I know a couple of the younger lads in the 21's and it's a major honour for them and it demonstrates career development and a major learning experience.
Jack wasn't booed
I travel to most Scotland games with mostly season ticket holders and we all easily balance following Rangers with the national team with no problem - a huge number of gers fans on Scotland trips (prob the largest representation).
Most Scotland fans hate the SFA with as much passion (if not more) as most club fans. Political beliefs are aside from football - sure most Scotland fans want independence, some don't, can't say politics is a major point of discussion on trips as preoples views are fairly well known.
You seem largely uninformed and fairly entrenched in views that don't really reflect reality of either players and their obvious interest of playing at an international level or of the fans who choose to support their own country.
PS: Scotland U21's won last night in Croatia, so the futures maybe getting a little brighter for Scotland and I would hope Rangers players would continue to be a major part of that process.

TartanTeddy got a reaction from wully in Memories of Porto
Was at the game in Porto when we lost one nil in 1983.
Bus from Glasgow to Porto, we got stopped at the border in the north of Spain as it was literally closed for the night, few of us got bored so wandered across the bridge separating the countries, was all going well until one lad (drink may have been taken) saw a Portugese border guard asleep in a wee glass sentry box and thought it would be funny to slap the window. Guy went berserk and there were suddenly a dozen pissed of Portuguese border guards piling out an office - we got unceremoniously marched back to Spain and handed over to the authorities for a proper blocking!
Game was almost as bad. Penned in a corner terrace with the overhang of a stand to one side. Guy was selling coffee from a big metal samovar on hs back, and the folk were buying it just to throw on us. Spent the full ninety dodging coins being chucked at us and hot coffee raining down. Post game they let half of us out and the rest were held back - when the gate reopened we found everyone penned back against ithe gate. Looked up this long alley and there were hundreds of Porto fans waiting on waste ground. Scary as fuck, and then a big lad at the front just said we have to charge them - which didn't seem like the best idea at the time - but everyone takes of up this alley screaming and thankfully the fuckers turned and ran away so we could get back to the buses.
Think only Dublin was worse for me in terms of trouble, have hated them ever since (well maybe apart from one night in 2003), so really hope we can do the fuckers!!

Absolutely, atmosphere panned out as expected
Very loud at the start, Legia eventually made the game a bore and flattened the crowd
Loud just after half time then crowd got nervy and then they set off the flares. Biggest mistake they made IMO, after the flare incident we came together to the point where most around me were focused on singing at them rather than the game itself.
You can’t fault that atmosphere tonight, give me 10/15 minutes of noise like that over a 90 minute drone any day

Their flares actually galvanised our supporters and in turn helped the players.

Thought the crowd at the end was incredible!
It really is what European nights are all about and the reaction from the players, especially Jack and Katic at the end was brilliant. You could really see them fired up!
It might sound a wee bit strange but without all the add ons and other songs (with the content that's being discussed ad infinitum), I thought Derry's Walls was much more powerful than normal. Certainly lifted the whole stadium. It felt far more like a fight song than a song with any religious baggage, so hopefully as we move forward key songs can remain and others come in to fill some of the gaps. Because tonight proved beyond doubt that we can generate an amazing atmosphere inside Ibrox without some of the stuff that has lead to sanctions.
Would love a 'clean' version of Hello Hello that could get everyone on board
Still buzzing!!

Incredible performance by the team and the gaffer tonight, but what about a mention for the fans?
The fans were probably under more pressure tonight than any other group of supporters ever.
With the 'noisy section' banned for the evening, there were genuine worries that the stadium would be like a library , or worse, some fans could not handle the pressure and sung a naughty word.
I didnt hear the slightest hint of an inappropriate song. I did hear a stadium absolutely rocking with an amazing atmosphere.
Our fans really are a credit to the club, and tonight proves that we can give up these songs, and it wont hold us back in the fucking slightest.

TartanTeddy got a reaction from Spliffy in Were Our Club Owners Complicit And/Or Aware That Pressure Would Come Upon Us For Singing Certain Songs ??
I'm sure I'll get pelters for this on here, but they've played it better in terms of messaging, majority of songs they sing (I'm no expert on their song book, so maybe some will say I don't know) can be viewed as pro Irish, taps into the whole jolly craicster thing, The songs we are getting pulled up for are viewed as anti catholic not pro any type of positive culture. So it's easy for people, particularly foreigners who don't understand the nuance of the politics of Glasgow, to see them as coming from a completely different place and with a completely different sense of acceptability.
The vast majority of our support are secular, most of the guys I go with who might sing some of the songs we are deemed to be in trouble for, but admit that it's simply a 90 minute thing. For me and them, it's always been about the club first, so in all honesty none of the sanctions make a difference to how I'll follow the team, would imagine that will be true of many within the support.
For those who want to put culture first, or on equal footing, it's simply about finding songs that celebrate that culture rather than songs that are seen to be attacking the position of others. That puts the songs beyond the reach of UEFA and if we're being honest, should be how anyone promotes their beliefs
