I don't think he says too much wrong there - no-one still knows what happened.
I've nothing against him anymore, he's came back to us twice and proved himself (despite his critics)
I can't wish him all the best because I know he will be joining some scummy bastard Scottish team and be playing against us in all probability but if he leaves Scotland I'd wish him success next place he goes. His time's up here tho.

He was a kid then and to my memory he was half decent. Not scared to get stuck in and leave one on an opponent. A tough guy at a young age.
I haven’t seen any of him at Leeds, a little at Swansea.
If he’s developed like he should have he would get a game and improve our defence missing one leg.

It was a bad tackle, but it being on a player that has been out for months is irrelevant.
I only care what our players do on the pitch (not much this year) , off the pitch they can do what they want.

This 100%. Handled terribly. People seem to think that because a solicitor advises something it must be the right way to go. Solicitors make mistakes all the time and cost their clients money, credibility  etc.  To even mention "different legal entity/not our concern legally I'm afraid" makes us look like we're on the defensive/trying to deflect/distance ourselves.
Assuming the facts are as reported then this was a young bear whose life was ruined by a filthy nonce at OUR beloved Rangers football club. I would like to have seen the board do everything in their power to get to the root of what happened and try to provide support to the victim (pay for counselling etc). The board are merely custodians of our club. The proud heritage of Rangers as an institution should dictate that 'new club/old club' is irrelevant to how abhorrent such an incident is to us and the lengths we should go to in order to understand exactly what happened, help the victim and ensure there is never a repeat. We should stand up and fucking own any situation, good or bad, and respond with integrity and class. THAT is what differentiates us from celtic.
I'm not saying we shouldn't have obtained legal advice. I think this was correct. But to respond with a clumsy, formal and unfeeling statement that effectively says "not our problem" is NOT what a Rangers board should be doing imo.
    How about:
"We are deeply upset by the incident that took place at Ibrox when you were on our books as a boy. We have looked into the incident and found that the individual in question, Mr Neely (formerly with Hibernian FC), was dismissed from the club and the police were immediately informed of his actions. It is abhorrent to Rangers Football Club that an incident like this could happen at the club and that a man like Mr Neely could be employed by the club. Today, we have extremely strict vetting procedures in place to ensure that this scenario can never be repeated at this football club.
We are deeply sorry for the distress and lasting damage caused to you by this experience and we would like to invite you to come in to see us at your convenience to discuss any ways that we might be able to offer you support and to help you, even in any small way, ease the suffering you clearly still feel over this incident. Although an historic matter, we have contacted Hibernian Football Club to ask for full details of their knowledge of and experience with Mr Neely and whether they were aware of any wrongdoing on Mr Neely's part prior to him moving to Glasgow to join the staff of Rangers. Rest assured that, should it become apparent that Hibernian FC had prior knowledge of Mr Neely's inappropriate behaviour, then we will be demanding a full explanation as to why Rangers were not forewarned. With  your permission we would also like to contact the police in relation to this incident to ensure that all appropriate action was taken by the authorities at the time in relation to this and the many other incidents of abuse affecting other Scottish football clubs. We are aware of other situations with other clubs where attempts have allegedly been made to "cover up" or "keep quiet" incidents of abuse involving children in their care. We wish to stress that such an approach has never and will never be adopted by Rangers Football Club. Rather, we will always seek to fully expose and bring the full force of the law down upon any perpetrators of abuse that come to our attention.
Regarding the matter of compensation: We feel strongly that you should receive compensation although we appreciate that this is not going to in any way make up for the instance of abuse you experienced as a boy. Unfortunately, from a legal standpoint, the responsibility lies with the previous entity The Rangers Football Club PLC and not with the new entity RFC 2012 Limited. We would therefore advise you to contact the former entity in relation to your official claim for compensation and you will find the contact details enclosed separately. However, we feel a strong moral obligation to help you in any way we can as the new entity (RFC 2012 Limited) obviously represents Rangers and its proud history since 1872. As mentioned, we would like to invite you to come in and meet with us so we can discuss avenues open to us whereby we can support you. Without prejudice we would also like to include a financial offer to you as a gesture of support and this we can  discuss when you visit us. It is important to make clear that RFC 2012 Limited has no legal liability in relation to your claim and that such a payment will be made with no conditions attached and will not represent any admission of liability. It will also not affect your right to pursue compensation from the previous entity as discussed.
In closing, we would like to reiterate how sorry we are that you had this experience whilst at the club. We are pleased you have contacted us and given us the opportunity to provide support to you to the best of our ability. We are committed to revisiting this incident and to participating in any further investigation that the police may deem appropriate. Fortunately, given the prevalence of historic abuse within youth football in the UK that has now come to light, Rangers has been far less affected than many other clubs. This doesn't make it any less upsetting to hear of your own experience and we hope that, working together, we can move forward and help alleviate any negative feelings that you may still have towards Rangers. As a Rangers fan and season ticket holder you will be fully aware that we consider ourselves a family and, as the custodians of our great club, we the board are committed to standing by all members of that family."

That would have been far more difficult for Timmy Journo to twist into a hate-filled article attacking Rangers.

I'm disappointed any of our players are pals with Allan because he's a slimy wee cunt, but the reaction in here from some is ridiculous.
Who growing up playing in football teams only had mates who played for the same team as they did? In what other profession would you only have mates who work for the same company as you?
To get offended over this is fucking pathetic.

players have mates from all over it’s the way it’s always been
I remember half the Rangers team turning up in Saltcoats (John Greig, Tommy McLean,  Peter Mcloy etc) to Bobby’s Bar (Lennox) for a surprise birthday doo
John Greig’s best mate is Billy McNeill
just because we despise them doesn’t mean our players do
anyway imagine going for a beer with Morelos, what a bundle of laughs that would be

Many, many thanks to the bear who posted the profile of Harold Davis.  I was aware of the broad strokes of this story but not the fine lines.  Recall Davis as a physical player but not dirty by any means.  It brought back a lot of memories to read this and hopefully I can catch up with some older bears to share it with.  Easier said than done out here in British Columbia.  Thanks again.

Rangers hero Harold Davis: I made history against celtic but still feel hard done by at being booted out of Cup Final
Korean War veteran looks back at the Ibrox side's history-making Scottish Cup semi-final win over the Hoops and admits he still feels injustice 60 years on.
Harold Davis carries scars from the Korean War but it’s the injustice of a tackle from a celtic rival that still burns almost 60 years later.
The Rangers hero made history in April 1960 when he helped the Light Blues record their first Scottish Cup semi-final win over 90 minutes against the Hoops.
Any player in the 21st century tempted to moan about their lot would do well to check out the CV of the former jungle fighter, now 83.
Already en route to establishing himself in the fine East Fife team of the late 40s, he ducked out of a cook’s tour and signed up for national service with the Black Watch in 1951 instead, immediately earning a post in the Far East.
His instep and abdomen were ripped apart by a burst of North Korean machine gunfire on the front line at the 38th Parallel and he spent 10 days unconscious in a hospital in Japan and two years in total in rehab.
Remarkably, he recovered and returned to football even though his wounds were serious enough to earn him an army pension from a young age.
He kickstarted his eight-year spell at Rangers in October 1956 when he moved from Methil to team up again with former boss Scot Symon.
In total he won four league titles, two League Cups and a Scottish Cup winners’ badge but had to wait until 1962 for his medal in the premier cup competition, against St Mirren, even though his team-mates went on to win it in 1960 by defeating Kilmarnock 2-0 in the Final.
Davis was still on the treatment table after the semi-final, which Rangers won 4-1 in a replay against their old rivals on April 6 after a 1-1 draw four days earlier.
Davie Wilson and Jimmy Millar each grabbed doubles to seal a victory which hardly looked on the cards in a first half that had ended 1-1 when Neil Mochan equalised Wilson’s opener.
Davis was carried off on a stretcher with 14 minutes left though after a John Colrain tackle.
Davis said: “That big bugger put his knee straight into my back when I was in mid-air challenging at a corner kick.
“He got away with it and not only did it stop me getting the last 15 minutes of the match it also put me out the Final.
“I didn’t know about our history of the semi-finals against celtic at that time but we enjoyed many more good memories against them than bad.
“We had a really good side – Millar, Brand and Wilson among many. The only thing that rocked us every now and again was injury.
“I enjoyed the physical side of the game. John Greig kindly says I taught him to tackle – and be naughty about it at times as well – but I was never sent off in eight years at Rangers and was only booked a couple of times.”
Right-half Davis admits the Scottish Cup semi-final victory went some ways to making amends for his side’s 7-1 trouncing in the League Cup Final three years earlier.
He played that day and still can’t bear to name check John Valentine, the hapless Rangers centre-half who bore the brunt of the blame for the defeat.
He added: “I don’t want to give you the name but we got our centre-half off the scrapheap and he took a tanking.
“Every one of the celtic goals seemed to come right through our middle that day.”
Davis, inducted into the Rangers Hall of Fame in 2009, is still sprightly and lives in Gairloch with wife Vi.
Understandably, trips to Ibrox are less frequent these days but he still keeps a keen eye on developments at his former club, although he reckons it will be their arch rivals rewriting the history books in the semi-final this time.
celtic have not beaten Rangers in the last four of the Scottish Cup since a thumping 5-0 win in 1925 but Davis said: “There’s a big difference between the Rangers team of my era and now.
“I watch the current side on TV wherever possible and they have improved recently but there’s still a long way to go.
