Signed at last.  Well done to Allen and Gerrard for persuading the player to sign for Rangers.   Here's hoping he makes an outstandingly positive goal scoring and goal creating impact in the team.
From the Rangers website today..............".........….The highly rated 22-year-old, who had options to move elsewhere, has made the decision to join the Gers on a four-year-deal. London-born Aribo, who plays as an attacking midfielder, started his career at Staines Town, impressing to win their academy Player of the Year Award in 2014 and be offered a trail at Charlton.............."
Seems like Rangers has also been trailing him for what seems like ages.   Thankfully the trail has ended with his arrival at Ibrox.
ps - its a pity the media team can't get their messaging right first time.  Its not as if they haven't had a lot of time to draft the announcement and have it checked.   A bit like the team last season with far too many careless errors this happens too often from those responsible for Rangers announcements.   For a club of the stature of Rangers far more care needs to be taken in the quality of comms coming from the Club.   But first things first and its welcome to Aribo.

Luckily for Rangers guys like myself will wait months until they get hold of one, but not everyone will and that’s where we will / are losing hundreds of thousands of pounds.
How many tourists walk into our shop to buy kids strips and walk out the door and spend their money elsewhere? More than you think.
The retail side is a joke, I don’t work in retail but when they are taking money and then refunding it due to no stock you know things are not being run properly.
Imaging bitching about our club fucking up one of our most lucrative ways of putting funds into the team, whatever next!

It's just a really poor situation, so frustrating not seeing the club maximise the current feel good factor, especially during pre season when punters are desperate for strips/merchandise.
Been over at the stadium a few times recently & the club shop is a sorry sight tbh.
An A4 sheet stuck to the inside of the glass door saying 'store closed - only open on matchdays'.

This season we need players who can be first picks not players who may be great in a few years time we want to win the league, not against better squad players but we must also add really quality.

Killie were a decent side last season so to say we should of took 12/12 is perhaps a bit optimistic but to only take 2 pts was fucking shambolic....couple that with the the 3 draws with hibs and that realistically was the major difference

We haven’t signed anyone new, yet, who will improve our best 11. Logic dictates that having been 9 points behind last season we need some better starting 11 players, or they need to lose some of their starting 11 players. Hopefully, Dave isn’t relying on them fucking up, rather than us improving.

We lost points last season due to lack of quality in breaking stubborn teams down.  Too often last season we had 'one of those games', and were rarely outplayed over 90 minutes. However, teams got wise on how to beat us - and we didn't have a deterrent to counter the sitting in deep, rough us up, and hit on the break tactic.
We should be concentrating on signing 2-3 players with proven cutting edge.

I hope that right from the opening game and all the way throughout the season he fully lives up to the expectations of Gerrard and Allen and of their reasons for signing him.   It must surely be the case that they think he can make an immediate positive impact in the side and then sustain that throughout the season (otherwise why sign him).
If there is 'must win'  intention to win the league title this coming season and to add a cup or 2 then imo signings such as Edmundson (and Hastie and Jones and Stewart and Ojo) have virtually zero time to make the sort of impact they need to make to justify coming to Rangers.    There is no room for newly signed players to hit the ground stumbling this season.
With his background of football experience in England I'm presuming this is not one of the marquee signings that Gerrard and Allen alluded to a month ago so we still look forward to seeing these signings announced before the transfer window closes.  Plenty time left.

So much of that campaign was rigged. I can remember watching the goals from the Marseille v CSKA game on Saint and Greavsie the following Saturday and some of the Marseille goals were ridiculous. I thought at the time that there was corruption involved. A Year or so later it was confirmed that match fixing was involved and Tapie was buying people all over Europe to get what he wanted.

Ungrateful wee prick, though. Have to be careful with developing tims. Too many of their loyalties don't change.
Should be made to sign an 'I henceforth and forever will regard celtic as filth' declaration on signing for us.

There is absolutely no way we’d win league with Defoe playing up top on his own.
This is my worry - the last 6 games after Parkhead have clouded peoples judgement and they’ve forgot the absolute dross in second half of season that proceeded it.

That’s fine, but Kent took a number of months to really start making an impact, and even then he’s more the exception to the rule that most loans we have turn out to be average at best.
Be surprised if Ojo betters Kent’s contribution.

I’ve seen all of them play multiple times, including Ojo, and there’s nothing that would indicate they’d improve our ‘best’ starting 11 from last season.
They could be revelations, but that would be surprising.

The window is open until the 3rd of September, so I’m not overly worried.
That said, it’s much better when we get players in early, give them a proper preseason with us and a chance to understand how we play.
Regardless of the window, our season starts competitively  in 3 weeks.
Will need to see what happens between now and then before I hit the panic button.

We either have a situation where the Manager says what he means and means what he says or we don't.   As I recall it he used the term marquee himself.  In mid May both Gerrard and Allen went on record as saying the emphasis is now about quality and not quantity.
The transfer window is still open for many weeks so the judgement of whether or not marquee signings have been made, and whether (taking account of those players who transfer out) the overall quality of the squad is improved - hopefully materially improved - can only start to be done when the transfer window has closed.    Accepting there is a degree of subjectivity about whether a signing is 'marquee' or not I think we should take the meaning at face value ie it should be clear enough if a signing can really be categorised as being in marquee territory.  So far none are imo…..they are more about adding quantity than adding markedly better quality.
Having made their statement, Gerrard and Allen must now deliver on producing signings that are patently 'marquee'.    Their decisions to use that sort of phraseology and their decision t publicly state that the emphasis is on adding quality over quantity need to produce outcomes where we can all plainly see that they meant what they said.  Its as simple as that imo.
