This can all be traced back to the board failing to seize the momentum after 55 by backing SG to the hilt over new players so we could assert dominance. 
Although SG would have moved to EPL eventually there were plenty more trophies in him here and he clearly left due to limited backing from the board. There was definitely more quality in the squad under SG and it’s infuriating how we’ve regressed .

Honestly.. watch Dio.. he isnt rated by some one here, but he is constantly in great positions, but the players around him are taking too many touches and generally arent on the same wavelength.. 

He has to be ruthless and more importantly backed to make wholesale changes. 
Some of these players are on 4th manager and bottled too many title races. It is ingrained now.

You have no idea, and neither do I, of whether Sterling etc were even fit enough to start or what happens behind closed doors. Clement is only human, he makes mistakes,  but even he can't change the mentality of the bottlers in this side. 

To be a goal up at half time in a title race and then go on to concede 3 goals is fucking criminal.
