Battered 4:0 two away games in a row.
Once by the enemy, who many will now believe are nailed on to win the league again.
The other by a team near certs to win our CL group.
Then other results came in...Liverpool battered by a near identical score in Naples..in fact Naples missed a penalty whcih would have made it a clear 4 goal defeat. The Frankfurt stunned 3:0 at home. The only other Finalist from the end of last season won a hard fought match against our conquerors.
Did I not read that Ajax were going to treat us with maximum respect in their pre match briefings? They certainly learned the lesson of their great Dutch rivals, PSV, whom we very recently stunned, in Holland, and probably woke the fuck out of teams who would otherwise have underestimated us to their massive cost. As European finalists, we are also a big scalp right now. Everyone wants a piece of us. And they have realised that we can upset teams, no matter who they are or where they are. 
So that wasn't just a standard beating from a top team with huge European pedigree, there was also a massive respect paid to us that they brought their A game. And some.
And Saturday's game reflects the same sentiment...they knew they had to up their game, and they did exactly that.
The hysterical response to both hammering defeats is all very predictable, but that's football. We are not out of either competition despite what both teams did, by the same margin, and both still have to face us in the return fixture at our place. Where I am sure our fans will be glad to let them know who's fucking boss/
Gio has to get the confidence back off the floor. But i know that if Liverpool can let 4 in, it can happen to anyone. Gio has to get them up to speed, get them right back on their game and we will be back in contention.
They are no easy games, but why should there be? If we were in a top league, we would be up against top teams week in week out, with no gaps to take stock and reboot. That is what we wanted by getting into the Champions League.
About 20 years ago we lost 6:2 to Them. The next time  they came to Ibrox we fucked them 5:1.
Step back, get a bit of perspective. After a dismal week, things will get better.
In fact, if I was Gio, my advice to the team would be this. Speed the fuck up. Chase everything. Give the other side no time. Up the tempo. Harrass. Let's see how teams cope if we learn the lessons just handed out to us.

The ticket site is an absolute joke.  Whats the point in putting tickets on sale at 10am then not beable to get into the site and when you do its sold out.

Not worried about this game and at worst expect a draw. We are a different beast in Europe

6 league games played and we’re writing this off 🤯

After 6 games? No! That's ridiculous. Can't believe it's even being discussed. We've come back from bigger deficits later in the season. Know we just took a sore spanking but catch a fkn grip! 

When Gerrard left last season it was us who were 5 points in front. The scum were that poor that that was even with us dropping points, they had just dropped more. Things at that time looked bleak for them but as a full season shows things can turn around very quickly.
We're not showing many signs that we're capable of turning things round but have a look how many key players are out injured or still coming back from injury. We also have new players bedding in. A year ago many were writing off Lundstram and Bassey was nowhere near the levels he finished the season at so again there's more reasons how things can change.
It may not be looking great right now but there's a long way to go so writing the season off at this stage is mental. We do however need to find a way of consistently winning games quickly. 

Write off this season because we switched off against a 1 dimensional team? No chance, we have not started this season well but form can change. A few injuries here and there for them and it can change very quickly. 
A few players need to seriously start performing though.

It was a Barthez-esque performance, I did blame him for all the goals, not for the result. Call me crazy but there were stages in that game where I thought we performed better than we did the last time we won there. No panic state here.

Aye the Europa Conference League is much more competitive, I was raging when we qualified for CL.

Wasn’t really a bizarre signing at all. Bassey had just left and the majority wanted a good replacement brought in because nobody trusted Barisic.
At this point Barisic decided to find form again and made the whole signing look like a waste of time and money. It’s typical more than anything else

he will stick with him.  managers do not throw their players under the bus like that even know JM should be relegated after that. he was fucking horrendous.  

The subs benches tell you everything you need to know  about our squad compaired to theirs. 
Their main striker goes off in the first few minutes and they've still got 3 established fan-backed forwards they can use. 
If any of our first team regulars get injured we end up having to fall back on folk we've already written off. 
Board fucked it by not spending money once we qualified for CL.

I was only thinking about when we were actually competing for the title in the same league, so that the teams could be compared on a like for like basis - sorry, should have made that clear.

Surely 2012-2018 they had better keepers to steve simonsen etc 🤔
