    My letter to the rat:

On the morning of July 2, 1937, 30 coal miners lost their lives in one of England’s most tragic mining accidents at the Holditch Colliery in North Staffordshire, England.
A number of fires and explosions below ground accounted for the lives of the men who had returned into the mine in an effort to rescue their colleagues who had been attempting to extinguish fires that were burning at the coal seam.
News of this tragic event reached Scotland, hardly strangers themselves to mining disasters, and, in an act of solidarity, Scottish football League Champions Rangers FC travelled to the Victoria Ground to play Stoke City in a benefit match for the victims of the disaster. While the match ended goalless, it raised a much needed £2,000 for the relief fund and families of the lost miners. For their efforts, Rangers FC were presented with a limited edition Loving Cup from Stoke City President, Sir Francis Joseph, one of only 30 that had been made to celebrate the silver Jubilee of King George V. Identical Loving Cups were presented to the 22 English First Division clubs of the time, with the others going to the British Museum and various organisations. Sir Francis Joseph had only request, that the vessel should be used in perpetuity to drink to the health of the reigning monarch prior to the club’s first home match of every year. And so it is to this day, the New Year toast is celebrated in the Blue Room at Ibrox by the assembled directors and guests of Rangers FC and the visiting team at the first home game of the year.
It is then with some surprise, and a not inconsiderable level of disgust, that I find you, Deputy Leader of Glasgow City Council, openly mocking the tradition, the ceremony and its significance on social media platform Twitter comparing it to an episode of Only an Excuse. Scotland has seen more than its fair share of mining disasters over the years since coal mining first began and there are many accounts of the horrible conditions these men worked in and the horrible deaths they suffered and the loss and suffering experienced by the families they left behind. Yet, you see fit to mock that ceremony. Could it be that your judgement is perhaps being clouded by your contempt for coal miners?
Further observations on your Twitter account would suggest an association with a certain Mr Phil Macgiollabhain . Mr Macgiollabhain, (not his real name) was once a staff journalist with An Phoblacht, a newspaper published by the IRA and author of the contemptible anti-Rangers FC blog entitled “The Incubator”. Could it be that he despises coal miners as much as you?
Mr McDonald, you and I both know that you and Mr Macgiollabhain probably don’t dislike coal miners but what we both know, and is very apparent from your Twitter account, which after your numerous vile sectarian tweets were exposed you hastily set about protecting and deleting your previous posts, is that you do share an apparent and delusional hatred of all things associated with Rangers FC and from your many Tweets, an unhealthy adoration of celtic FC. So much so that you used you abused your position at Glasgow City Council to influence your colleagues at Glasgow Life, to circumvent due process and to overturn the decision to allow a “Fan Zone” to be established at Ibrox. Perhaps you might advise me of any other entertainment licenses you have used your position to have revoked. Strange how so called “Fan Zones” would only enhance the supporters experience if they were established at Hampden and in the East of the City
I believe your behaviour is unbecoming of an individual within an organisation of Glasgow City Councils magnitude. You have been elected and installed in the exalted position of Deputy Leader of the Council that you may represent all of your constituents not just the ones who share your apparent love of a particular football team and your political party.
I look forward to your response.

Rangers fans could be forgiven their wry smiles on hearing the motto of the Scottish Police Service, Semper Vigilo – Always Vigilant. One could point to the massive banners depicting them as “H** Scum”, somehow smuggled past the “vigilant” officers or perhaps the inflatable effigies which were then hung from the rafters of celtic Park, an action which again managed to escape the gaze of Scotland’s finest. Meanwhile Northern Irish Rangers supporters, carrying the flag of their country, find them being seized by Police Officers as they attempt to enter Ibrox, on the pretext of them being “sectarian”. The fact that the latter has happened on more than one occasion, accompanied by a subsequent apology from Police Scotland, suggests someone, somewhere is not paying attention.
The job of the Police is difficult and challenging, particularly at football matches, exacerbated by a recent increase in whataboutery and individuals being faux offended, much of which is played out across social media platforms.
Warwick University, WBS Research Projects offers the following explanation on Public Confidence:
“For any police force to be effective in safeguarding the public, retaining public confidence is critical. This is because the public are a key source of information, and their trust and cooperation are often key to law enforcement.”
But that trust has to be earned and two significant incidents which pertain to public safety, and which rise above the simply annoying or exasperating examples cited in the opening paragraph, have significantly eroded the confidence and trust of Rangers supporters with regard to Police Scotland.
The aftermath of the 2016 William Hill Scottish Cup Final still rankles with many Rangers supporters. As someone who was there, and who witnessed first hand the events which unfolded, I sill find it particularly difficult, that 30 seconds after the final whistle standing in the traditional Rangers end at Hampden, I was faced with a Hibs fan standing not 50 yards from me in the six yard box challenging and goading myself and other Rangers supporters to fight. This individual’s course of conduct had nothing to do with joy, celebration nor overexuberance and any attempts to explain it or rationalise it as such are quite simply erroneous.
But its events off the pitch which served to undermine confidence in the Police. As Rangers supporters raised questions about the preparation, speed and deployment strategy of the Police, they found themselves in the eye of a storm as accusations were levelled that Rangers fans had used their own children as barricades to hinder and impede officers reacting to the ongoing situation at Hampden. The author of the story, Jane Hamilton from the Scottish Daily Record, appeared to receive corroborative assistance from Callum Steele of the Scottish Police Federation, who tweeted that this version of events was consistent with reports he had received from officers on duty that day.
The Independent Press Standard Organisation (IPSO) ruling following a complaint regarding the story can be read in full here:
    https://www.ipso.co.uk/rulings-and-resolution-statements/ruling/?id=03188-16
Both Jane Hamilton and Callum Steele remain in post.
The SFA ordered an independent Commission into the disorder which was chaired by Sheriff Principal Edward F Bowen CBE QC. Regretfully, I am unable to guide you to an unabridged version of his findings, as the SFA, for reasons best known to themselves, have decided to no longer promulgate his report.
https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/resources/documents/documents/scottishcupfinal2016report/scottish cup final 2016 commission of enquiry - report of sp bowen.pdf
Since publication, Rangers have contested the findings of the report and official statements from the club reflected that.
"We can state however that we will be seeking an urgent meeting with the author of the report, Sheriff Principal Edward Bowen, the Scottish FA’s Chief Executive Stewart Regan and his Compliance Officer, Tony McGlennan.
It is imperative that we gain insight into the underlying basis for the findings in the report given that we consider it contains a number of factual inaccuracies and contradictions.
It is right that the club gives the author and requisitioner of the report the opportunity to comment on our concerns prior to making a conclusive statement.”
Such concerns were not without foundation.
Although not widely reported by the press, who focussed on the report’s main findings namely:
    ·         Police and steward numbers were appropriate
    ·         Neither club to blame for crowd trouble
    ·         Call for debate on criminalising pitch invasions
    ·         Physical interaction between players and fans to be discouraged
    ·         Retractable tunnel could improve player safety
    ·         Pitch invasion sparked by Hibs fans' high excitement
    ·         Overwhelming majority of Rangers fans behaved properly
there was also remarks in the report regarding intelligence prior to the match itself.
In the absence of the complete report I will refer to this exert from the Edinburgh Evening News dated 5th August, 2016.
    https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibs/report-concludes-hampden-pitch-invasion-down-to-high-excitement-1-4195707
In particular, I would draw your attention to this paragraph:
“Mr Bowen said he was satisfied both clubs and the Scottish Football Association took reasonable precautions to minimise the possibility of a pitch invasion. He concluded there was no evidence to suggest the pitch invasion was planned, that the Hibs support had not been infiltrated by individuals holding some form of malicious intent, and that while some supporters were affected by alcohol, both male and female, that hadn’t played a significant part in what happened.”
On the Monday following the Cup Final, BBC Radio Scotland hastily scheduled a phone in hosted by Kaye Adams, to discuss the events and the aftermath. It consisted of both Hibs and Rangers fans phoning in to offer their own versions on events. I mention this programme because some of the Hibs supporters phoning in made reference to the fact it was all over social media, that in the event of a Hibs victory there would be a pitch invasion.
Given the vast galaxy which is social media it is not unreasonable to accept that those responsible for either Policing pre-match intelligence may have missed this, but for the subsequent investigation and report into the aftermath to either miss or totally discount testimony which has been aired by the country’s national publicly funded broadcaster?
Rangers supporters are more than familiar with the failings and selective nature of “low-level intelligence gathering”
Fast forwarding to last week and the reputation and confidence in Police Scotland suffered further erosion following the Rangers vs Osijek tie at Ibrox, which was marred by violent disorder prior to the match. Concerningly for Police Scotland, criticism of policing arrangements came not only from Rangers supporters but also from Paul Goodwin, former head of Supporters Direct and co-founder of the Scottish Football Supporters Association, who accused the Police of being blindsided and failing to take into account the violent reputation of Croatian fans.
    http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/16398308.police-scotland-deemed-Rangers-match-which-saw-two-stabbed-to-be-low-risk/
Whilst I appreciate I do not have access to the resources, expertise and research facilities of  analysts at Police Scotland, my somewhat crude google searches tend to suggest Mr Goodwin may have a point.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6dKP4tpzNU
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vR7WATnpigY
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r9DAclKcGY
It is perhaps worthy of note that the violence involving Osijek fans in Switzerland was only last year, which makes Chief Inspector Bowater’s assertion that there was “no intelligence” to suggest extra policing was required, particularly difficult to fathom.
Warwick University Research Projects, previously mentioned, goes further in its examination of Public Confidence in the Police, citing the various array of measurements used by the Police to gauge and determine such confidence, including customer satisfaction surveys.
Of course in order to ensure favourable feedback, Police Scotland could tailor their customer satisfaction phone calls to 3pm every other Saturday when Rangers supporters are likely to be elsewhere, or alternatively, they could afford Rangers supporters the same level of commitment, transparency, protection and treatment which everyone in Scotland is entitled to expect from them.

If HMRC had taken a cut price deal like they accepted from the other football clubs .there wouldn't have been a trail of debt left behind
And if they had agreed a CVA like they have done with other debtors there wouldn't have been a liquidation scenario
Both came with the idea that no deal on the EBT meant they would go after the other trusts .which as yet they haven't and the reason CVA wasn't accepted was so they could go after Shyte but they haven't either.

Mind the time Alfredo went through on goal and only to be rugby tackled by the Hibs centre half but the foul went against him?!
Mind Stokes violently grabbing Tav and throwing him to the ground?
Mind Stokes then got involved in a tussle, raising his hands to a players throat but wasn't deemed violent enough?!
Mind all those red cards rescinded last season?!
Mind the Kipre stamp on Jack that went unseen by the ref?
Mind the Motherwell player elbowing Cardoso and breaking his nose but didn't get sent off?!
Mind that time when Danny Wilson fouled a player clearly outside the box and the ref gave a penalty?!
Mind the time Bates was on the receiving end of a much more brutal kick out against St Johnstone but the player was only cautioned?!
Mind the time Scott Allan dangerously two foot tackled Rossiter only to be given a yellow card?!

I mean, when you start to list the honest mistakes(only ones I can remember) it's either all Scottish refs are not up to standard or something more sinister going on.

McKenna fouled Morelos twice prior to him lashing out, why wasn't McKenna at the very least booked for his actions?
Why wasn't Ball at the very least booked for pulling back Windass in the box, making no attempt to go for the ball.
McKay Steven threw the ball with force at Windass(?) Isn't that a bookable offence?
Why was Arfield booked when Devlin grabbed his shirt and forced his face into Arfield's?
    Why was Goldson booked?
Why wasn't May at the very least booked for jumping into Jack with what appeared to be deliberate intentbto injure?
And just where did the referee get the idea for 6 minutes extra time?

Your average Scots football fan ?
Lots of cunts playing with their emotions or their idealistic attitude of an independent Scotland, but very few of them, if any want to respect a past which has included so much great achievement and contribution to the technology, culture, and industry, and especially on the sporting stage.
Scotland was part of a British sporting tradition that brought football to the world. Initially the great teams were the likes of Queens Park and us, We rose high, Queen's Park effectively the first great Scottish team (they reached English cup finals back then), then we carried the mantle further, arguably the best team in Britain until Arsenal came along and we coompeted for the title "Best Of Britain" which was easily justifiably translated as "Best In The World" back then.
And Scotsmen took football all over the world, all round Europe and to the other continental giant that comprised Argentinian, Brazil and the other South American nations.
Glasgow was the second city of an empire at it's peak, we built the trains and ships with British iron and steel. A third of the worlds trains. A quarter of world shipping came from the Clyde at one time.
And we had arguably the world's best football team.

So what do we have now in Scotland ? A third world production centre, lack of traditional engineering skills and a future based on debt and income which won't happen, subsidised for now by English ratepayers.
And on a football level we have reaped what was sown, a self interested, English hating for the sake of it, fourth rate national side with only ra cellic cutting it due to inbred taig corruption and false Oirish roots based support.
Yet supporters of the likes of hivees, hearts, sheep, scum still believe they are on the right path to an independent Scotland , and go to national games and spew their hatred toward our players due to our loyalist traditions i nboth Scotland and Britain as a a whole.
    Fuck the lot of them.

So in summary, Dundee United's deserved (in my opinion) demise does not just represent their clubs lack of integrity and loyalty to what is good in Scotland, , but also represents the fucked up attitude of the majority of football fans of other clubs in Scotland, and I hope those self same fans and supporters of other Scottish football clubs will go down the same road as the Dundee scum.
