I usually don't watch this mob but I watched the second half. They're hanging on by a thread at this moment in time.
This time next week a multi goal victory and we're top of the league and if not then it wont be far away
-
If, just if, Hibs were to win this by 2+ and put us top of the league without even playing would lead to the ultimate meltdown. The sharks and the rest of sea world would be out in force.
-
I'm not expecting celtic to drop points tonight just because Hibs are way too open but when either us or them are struggling it doesn't matter how bad the opposition are playing the bigger team still drops point.
I think the pressure of not winning regularly at Rangers or celtic overtakes the overall shiteness of the smaller club and leads to either bad performance and/or bad unexpected results.
Since Clement joined celtic are dropping points in every third game so if not tonight they will likely drop points against Kilmarnock or Motherwell, they may even get knocked out the cup by St Mirren.

Silva should be used for every game
Ideally but there's a lot of football to be played. There's enough around Dessers against shite like Dundee, Motherwell and Ross County to win and make sure Silva isn't run into the ground by the end of March.

I like him. Technically looks superb.

Best player on the park tonight. Excellent and a mature performance.

This feels very much like 55 for me and not just for their hijinks across the city.
Not matter if we play badly or huff and puff or miss a million chances I just feel like we'll find a way. Actually feel relaxed watching us when it was 1-1.
That stoppage time wasn't too relaxing though

First "handball" you will never get and as for the second the Aberdeen players trips Goldson prior to him falling in front of Miovski.
More media nonsense but Boyd has the measure of them.
So there was a foul for the obvious trip on Goldson. Sky is a bigger joke than Robertson.

Thank fuck they didn’t get Miovski in this window.
An absolute menace. Would certainly do alright with us.

Really good win, played some decent stuff but dug deep as well. Never an easy game against them but we find a way.
I thought Cantwell was outstanding tonight. A real mature performance. No daft shit that he sometimes pulls in bigger games. Used the ball brilliantly every time he had it and got the winning goal to put the cherry on top of a great game.
Really impressed with Silva (again) and Matondo is coming onto a game. He was frustrating for about an hour but Tom Lawrence, as long as he's fit, can be a valuable player in the run in.
Don Robertson is a wank.
On to Ayr...

Famous last words but why Rabbi?

One thing I'll say about McAusland is he's getting doubled up on a lot which should leave Tav free or there to help. I know he'll turn up but I want a wee bit more from Tav and Lawrence.
Left side looks like they've played with each other for years compared to the right side.
Cant really fault the performance so far. Just a fucking stupid goal to lose with Goldson getting bullied and I reckon Butland should be out sooner.
-
Sliding door moment now with us appointing Clement and not Muscat. A battle years in the making would have taken place on the dugout with Muscat and Warnock.

It’s incredible that a section of their fans genuinely cannot stand a title race. Their sense of entitlement to just walk to a league title has to end this season. We can put them back into that box this season and finally put our foot on their throats for a season or two. This title is massive
They wont need to worry about title races for much longer. They wont be in one in a month or two.
-
That was good today. Nice to see the goals spread out as well with Dessers on the bench and Sima out. Hopefully a sign of things come.
Jack Butland's performance was abysmal though. Barely touched the ball. Stealing a wage.
On to the Sheep...
-
He's scary sometimes but is becoming more consistent since Clement came in and Danilo got injured. 7 in his last 12 league games and 3 assists.
We rely too heavily on him, Sima and Tav for goals so hopefully the new boys help with that and the likes of Cantwell and McAusland cant start to contribute more as well.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong and/or naive here.
Didn't Butland and his family move up here and I'm pretty sure he said they wanted to settle down after being shifted about?
Money talks as does another chance to play in the EPL but I don't think it's as simple as a club coming in and sweeping him off his feet at this stage of his career.

Noticed the manager mentioned a couple of the players brought up poor starts after the winter break down the years. Nice to see it acknowledged and pin pointed by the manager. There's been a couple of title races that has fucked us before we even get to valentines day!

Law of averages says we'll drop points somewhere and if I were to predict who against it'll most likely be Aberdeen (even at Ibrox) and Kilmarnock. We seem to be more predictable when dropping points whereas when celtic drop points it happens when you least expect it, St Johnstone at home for example.
The big one is them at home. We have to beat them if we're gonna win this league.
For me a lot of Gio's failings and success domestically was down to the H2H v celtic (Scottish cup semi v League games). Turn a couple of defeats into draws or even win one and you win the league in 2022 - not ignroing that there were some poor results against the rest under him and Gerrard that season. The same can be said for this season. Turn those two defeats into draws and we're a point ahead with a game in hand (obviously some external factors played a part as well)
Historically it's important Clement wins that one because since Struth the only manager to fail to win his first two games against them and win a league title was Advocaat and those were very different times.
-
Fuck that was brutal but a really good result in tough conditions!!
On to Livi...
-
Pretty poor apart from a lovely goal.
We're doing nothing with Sterling and Wright to push back their full backs. It just invites unnecesary pressure and leaves Dessers and Cantwell isolated.
Sterling or Raskin left beside Lundstram with one coming off with Wright and bring on Matondo and McCausland.
-
Cautious comes to mind with that line up. Need a lot from the full backs and Raskin to support Dessers, Cantwell and Wright.
However, it's a 90+ minute game and we find ways to win games under Clement. 2-0 Rangers.

Watching them last night reminded me of us last season under Gio. You would have games you would win quite comfortably and you'd win games in spite of yourself but you just knew the next bad result was just around the corner.
As long as we stay consistent you get a feeling that their next poor result isn't far off whether it is against St Mirren in the cup or in the league against Killie or Motherwell.
