loyal reacted to SeparateEntityMyArse in Rangers title number 55 is only a matter of time away as they're back on a level with celtic
Save clicking troops, I took one for the team..
=========================
When Steven Gerrard was unveiled at Ibrox many were quick to jump on his lack of experience in the dugout and suggest that he would struggle to turn Rangers around.
Well, three months on, the Liverpool icon must surely be making those people eat their words as his side look like an entirely different animal to the one that has huffed and puffed their way through the last two campaigns.
Gerrard's side have now negotiated eight competitive games unbeaten, including trips to Croatia, Slovenia and Macedonia, and are yet to fall behind at any point.
Throw in two early red cards for the Light Blues and it makes the job done by Gerrard and his coaching staff all the more remarkable.
While it is still very, very early in the season there are some real reasons for fans to be excited as Gerrard's revolution gathers pace and the Gers look much more likely to challenge celtic for the title than they have in a long time.
From back to front, there's a renewed confidence in the side that Gerrard sends out and run-of-the-mill games haven't had that same feeling that anything can happen as they had last season when Rangers recorded the club's worst home record in a century.
The one thing that has stood out more than anything else since Gerrard took charge is that with every passing game, Rangers get closer and closer to looking like a Walter Smith team.
Gone is the passing for passing's sake as well as the toothless attacks trying to score the perfect goal at every opportunity. In its place is a team of hardy b******* willing to run themselves into the ground and put their bodies on the line to secure a result. Under Mark Warburton, Pedro Caixinha and Graeme Murty, that wasn't evident and far too many of the squad seemed content to do enough to get by without ever excelling.
Despite claims that Gerrard looked "quietly terrified" of the job facing him, the 38-year-old has taken to management like a duck to water and proving exactly why Dave King, Mark Allen and co made their move to bring him north from Liverpool's academy.
Obviously, the trip to celtic Park on September 2 is going to be the real acid test for Gerrard's abilities as a manager but there's already a confidence amongst fans that has been in short supply over the last seven years.
It might be hubris and come back to bite us but for the first time in since Ally McCoist took charge of his first Old Firm game in 2011, it feels like the two sides are on a similar level.
It is far from all down to the apparent falling out between Brendan Rodgers and Peter Lawwell that has allowed Rangers to seemingly close the gap as much as it has this summer.
Some of the signings brought to Ibrox this summer have made a massive difference with Niko Katic, Connor Goldson and Allan McGregor in particular already winning widespread acclaim for their defensive performances while Scotty Arfield and Lassana Coulibaly have added some much-needed steel to a midfield that looked powderpuff more often than not last season.
Jon Flanagan has also made an impressive start to his Ibrox career and, alongside Borna Barisic, offers something much different at full-back.
Gerrard also hasn't been shy in giving young players a chance to shine and speaking to some of the Gers' coaching staff and players following Tuesday's Irn Bru Cup defeat at the hands of Falkirk for Graeme Murty's Colt side it is clear that Gerrard has left the door open for any of the academy youngsters to force their way into his plans.
With Gary McAllister, Mark Allen and the some of the Ibrox board taking in the narrow loss at Forthbank, it's clear they believe there's a bright future at Ibrox.
With Rangers 180 minutes away from the Europa League group stage and looking much more capable of standing up to the demands of a Premiership challenge, it is only a matter of time before title number 55 is heading for Edmiston Drive.
celtic fans might sing about Rodgers being here for 10-in-a-row but if I was them I'd be worried that he's going to be up to making it eight-in-a-row, never mind ten.

Somebody needs to educate Stevie in the finer points of the local language.
You really can't go calling your hat-trick hero a "Big Weapon" Stevie. It's just no right

I was at the Dynamo Moscow game in 2001 and it was a fantastic trip. Possibly my favourite away trip following Rangers.
Albeit I guess Moscow is light years from Ufa.

We don’t know the ins and outs of Rodgers and lawwel relationship but if it’s a strong one then you’d expect 3-4 good signings between now and September.
weve been in that situation before under smith. Think we lost to celtic then aek then Falkirk in a week and still we romped it in the league. Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves eh?

Let's get through Thursday and the first game against them before we get too excited. It's still far too early for all this.

The UEFA Cup semi final there's nothing that came close to the excitement of knowing we were going to the final of a European competition.

We probably made promises to him after turning the bid down. I've not got a problem with this tbh, he deserves it. It also strengthens our position and could potentially get us a higher fee if/when he is sold.

Kevin Thomson got it spot on in commentary tonight by saying that working your socks off and trying harder than the opposition should be a given at our club. Now Gerrard actually has them doing it unlike previous managers.

If top class midfielders like Gerrard & McAllister can't inspire, motivate & get the best out of our central midfielders then they would be beyond hope, it's the one area of the team I can see imoroving massively over the season, they're up for a battle, thats quite clear but i want to see how they play when we need our midfield to be creative.
Good start, Greegsy is playing like a man possessed.

That kid has been dealt a shite hand, but thank god for people like his parents and Greg stepping up and making sure he still has a good life. Anyone that tells you football is just 22 men chasing a ball around should take a moment to think about people like this. The effort it took for him to say thank you is exactly what I want to see from the players in each and every game ?
