LookingForEric got a reaction from doonald in Gerrard and Arfield press conference
Thought this many times but Scott Arfield is class, on and off the pitch. He compliments SG well in these situations. Without hesitating, he is able to communicate freely and sensibly in the ‘Rangers’ way - he really gets it. If it wasn’t for Tav in the driving seat, there could be no better candidate for captain.

LookingForEric got a reaction from NorthernLights in What else do we need?
Possibly a bit expensive as a 3rd choice striker (I reckon £2m) but Keiffer Moore at Barnsley could be a Lafferty replacement. A bit of a late developer but has come good in recent times and selected in the League 1 team of the year, despite missing a few months with a head injury. Tall, physical and a bit of pace about him. Just what is needed for games against the less footballing sides.

LookingForEric got a reaction from SeparateEntityMyArse in Katic
Difficult shout. Not convinced any of our centre backs fill me with confidence to be honest. Goldson looks good when he has space and time but lacks pace when needed, struggles to sometimes read the bounce and i’m Not convinced about his heading ability. Worral is more physical, good in the air but is prone to stupid mistakes and dodgy passing. As someone mentioned previously, Katic has potential but is currently raw and naive. He is old fashioned in his approach - clear your lines at every opportunity. Very good in the air and likes a challenge but his distribution is woeful.
Hopefully Goldson and Katic will improve over the summer but I think we need a bit more quality in this area and someone capable of dictating play and ruling that back line.

LookingForEric got a reaction from Negri's lovechild in Alfredo- Stay or Go
If Alfredo was to leave, we need to find someone capable of standing up to the physical side of the game and the ability to mix it when needed. Not sure of his contract status but Charlie Austin could fit the bill.

LookingForEric got a reaction from billscott in We have to capitalise today, close that gap.
Was watching the Liverpool game earlier and Steve MacManaman was saying Liverpool were jaded on Wednesday playing Red Star. All the impact of playing so many games in a short timeframe. They didn’t even have to pre qualify.

LookingForEric got a reaction from Callum_Doon in How far we have come - a cliche
There is no doubting the progress made under SG & Co. Massively improved and decidedly more entertaining although with the odd hiccup thrown in for good measure. That’s football I guess, made worse by our own increased levels of expectation and long may this be the case. Interesting to see how much the views have changed on youngsters Ryan Kent and Ovie Ejaria. A couple of months back they were worse than bad and now they are verging on being off the scale, in demand and now the subject of transfer talk.
Last night we lacked a bit of composure at key times but we were in the game for the most part and with a bit more consistency, just like Kent, we will be there.
Loving the ride, here’s to a good win on Sunday.

LookingForEric got a reaction from BlueMe in Flanagan
Great point and that applies to all players - Tav, Flanagan and Ejaria. Definitely Tav’s best performance in a while but to be fair to Flanagan he has had a few good performances where he has covered and dropped in for others when required. As a team (squad) we have got gradually better as all the new signings get to know one another and it comes to something when we can find fault with them when we have probably had our best team performance in a while.
All looking good and augers well, let’s enjoy it while we can.

LookingForEric got a reaction from Rum Ham in Flanagan
The one thing we have been missing these past few years is mental and physical toughness in our defence. Flanagan has his faults at left back, not least his speed of recovery but despite this he has added some serious steel and demonstrates how we are not for rolling over as easy as in the recent past. Pleased he is with us.

LookingForEric got a reaction from BlueMe in Farewell Josh Windass
Agreed, can see him doing well with Wigan. Let’s face it, they were no threat to us in the recent friendly.

LookingForEric got a reaction from The No.9 in Ejaria and Kent
Nitcham is Coulibaly’s comparison and competitor. Thety both play that marauding type of role between defence and attack and should be interesting when they come together. Scott Brown sits very deep now, no legs anymore and besides is YESTERDAY’s man.

LookingForEric got a reaction from graeme_4 in Ejaria and Kent
Like both Kent and Ejaria, good foils to the more solid Jack and Coulibaly combination. We are now debating best options for certain positions and that is great. Middleton has stepped up to the plate and will give us something extra going forward, probably more as an impact sub. Hopefully we see more of him as the season progresses.
Ejaria coming in for a bit of unfair criticism. Covers a fair bit of ground, tall and strong with flair and dynamism - surely we can have room for one in the team. Given time probably that missing creative link we are missing.
