Weird....around the time we initially signed him, the fee was around 2 million pounds, somebody doesn't have their story straight.....

ahahahaha. Sorry but the price was in Euro's and the pound is devaluing against the Euro meaning you pay more.

:anguish: That's a lot of money

Still, i'd like to see him stay

He needs more experience in the SPL, but I think if given the chance(start him Walter!) he could be a really good signing for us. Here's hoping..

maybe if bawbag smith gave him more time to show fans what kind of player he is there would be no debate here, but as it stands i can't comment as i havn't seen near enough football from the lad.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...acks-shine.html - £2.2m

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/footbal...ron-903974.html £2m

http://www.breakingnews.ie/archives/2008/0...t/mhqleycwidid/ £2m

http://www.newstin.co.uk/tag/uk/75062285 £22

£2 - £2.2m is what i can see so i dont know where they get the £4m price tag. Plus, i dont think valencia have stupid people runing them - they know they cant afford to lose out on £2m atm as they are in deep shit

No, most of the stories bluenose4life posted seemed to indicate a 2 million pound price tag, not Euro.

Might be as simple as timing of the notice

Last sumer the bank rate was around 1.25 euro to the pound = 4m euro = £3.2m

Christmas previous it was 1.38 to the pound = 4m euro = £2.9m

But during both of those times it was expected that the euro would lose stringth and the GBP would revert to the 1.5 mark - which it hasnt. If it had - 4m euro = £2.6m

So the price remains the same value abroad - but here its impossible. But, by 2010 - the Euro is still expected to go back closed to the 1.5 rates than the surrent ones. So it should be les than £3m - and if it is - we have spent that value on players which also dont get a game just this year alone...

my tuppence worth - but, that tuppence is only a half penny now :(

It seems like a lot of money right now but it all depends on his progress. He's young and he's got potential if he comes good over the remaining of the season and next then it could be a decent investment, with the possibility of making a profit out of him to the EPL. We have first option so its in our hands.

Well if we are willing to pay £2.25m for McCulloch, £2m for Naismith and Whittaker, £2.7m for Edu and £3.5m for Lafferty then I wouldn't have a problem paying £2m+ for Aaron. Only problem is that we don't have that sort of money to spend :(

I think he's better than Beasley, Naismith and Fleck by a mile. Maybe a bit unfair on Fleck as he's a few years younger and has been stuck out on the left, a position that I hate him playing.

Aaron is highly rated in Spain, he's now playing alongside the likes of Bojan, Sergio Asenjo, Javi Martinez, Sergio Busquets, Daniel Parjo, Jeffren Saurez, Diego Capel....and he's not looked out of place in the two games he's played for them. Lopez Caro, the head coach rates him very highly!

Personally I'd have given him more games by now, McCoist pretty much said the same aswell - must be hard when you see the likes of Adam, McCulloch, Miller and Lafferty out on the left ahead of you.

Hopefully we'll see him before now and the end of the season as there is no doubt he has something to offer. Then next season he can push on and hopefully become a 1st team regular.

By the end of his loan deal I can see a host of clubs fighting for his signature!

Plainly, we are keeping him in the reserves in order to devalue his transfer worth. When the end of next season comes around, he should be worth about the same as Charlie Adam, we snap him up and Walter stands revealed as the master tactician he is!

Jeezus titty fvking christ, is everyone thick today? :craphead: The price Valencia set was in Euro's. Back then £4 million euro's was nearer £2 million, today it's nearer £4 million thanks to the pound nosediving..

Yeah because British papers will quote in pound sterling so punters here get their head around the exchange rate. Valencia would have set the fee and since they're in Spain and Spain uses the Euro it would have been set in Euro's.
