Kevin Thomson on bench yesterday -why ?

If not fit enough to play then why waste a sub - we started with a makeshift midfield but a centre mid was on the bench - if his knee isnt strong enough for 2 games a week then so be it - either promote a reserve or utilise better options - even Boughie could have played as a defensive mid -

PS its a crying shame but it looks like Thomson is not going to recover his pre injury form.

Thomson was shite on Tuesday night, he didnt deserve a place in the team yesterday after his performance on Tuesday.

Dropping him show's he can't walk into the team, and playing Naismith at CM show's us that we need Thomson up to speed again quickly.

Hope Edu & Mendes come back quickly as our midfield is so poor right now

Because hes no kicked his arse since hes came back from this injury, hes became a passenger in the team of late, how many games does he need tae get back to some decent level of fitness ?

To be honest it looks more to me that hes not regained his mental sharpness yet rather just being off the pace in games.

Its not rocket science he was perfectly fit and it wasn't a waste of a sub, he was dropped because he has been playing badly. Simples

My absolute pet hate on this forum. :craphead:

Anyway back on topic, Thomson deserved to be dropped yesterday.

He is horribly out form at the moment, but Smith should ahve played a recognised central midfielder instead of trying to shoehorn Naismith into that position.

Thomson was better than McCulloch on Tuesday night.

If anyone should have been dropped it should have been McCulloch.

Walter cant see the wood for the trees. McCulloch is the weak link in the middle of the park, not Kevin Thomson.

Here here!! Thomson even in poor form is still our best fit midfielder by some distance.

haha apologies

in all seriousness, not one of our midfielders yesterday played in their natural position....

Davis - is a central midfielder. simple as that he is NOT a wide player. walter wonders why we have no width?

McCulloch - fuck only knows lets be honest. shouldn't be near the team. he is a striker im told but the fact he has played CB, CDM, CM, RM, LM, ST and had HEE HAW success, means he isn't a CM

Naismith - is a striker, possibly a wide player but not a central midfielder.

Fleck - is a central player whether it is in centre midfield or in the hole behind the strikers or even as a striker. Not a wide midfielder

The reason we have no width is because we were playing two central players out wide...

also a serious lack of height in midfield which obviously isn't essential but in the SPL, you need to have a certain degree of physicality in the midfield area where the game is won and lost ie. Edu
