Mervan Celik signs for Rangers

Seems like the sort of player we should be actively looking to bring in.Hes 21, young, hungry and if he does well then so called bigger clubs from bigger leagues are bound to take notice. In saying that I would hope that our fans see that hes coming from a club that is probably the third biggest club in Gothenburg never mind Sweden and to come to a club like ours is a huge step up. The Danish league is where a lot of young talent from Scandanavia end up as the wages are much higher than in his home land. Brøndby thought they had Mervan but he said that he wanted to play at a higher level. I would imagine that Brøndby could match our 7 grand a week but the sway of playing at Rangers means that it wasn´t an issue. Good luck son.

Certainly making the squad younger, you can see what Ally's doing with Wallace now.

Give Wallace as many games as possible to bed him in. Papac will leave in the summer, Wallace to left back then Aluko or Celik in front of them.

All this while not making our left side weak at all. Credit to McCoist on this one (tu)

Holy shit, a compliment :P

GAIS just finished 5th in the Swedish league so coming here to play around better players and a more dominant team should only help him.

Like what happened to Aluko.

That's what I was thinking. 14 goals in 27 games from midfield in a 5th place team is very impressive. Being around better players could get the best out of him.

MERVAN CELIK has completed his move to Rangers after passing a medical and agreeing terms this afternoon.

The Swedish under-21 international midfielder put pen to paper on a three and half year contract with the SPL champions.

He was available under freedom of contract after seeing out his previous deal with GAIS of Gothenburg.

The 21-year-old can play on either flank and began his career as a striker, with Ally McCoist confident the player will bring an additional goal threat to his squad.

Celick has been handed the number 24 shirt last worn by Madjid Bougherra but has not yet gained international clearance.

That means he won't be available to McCoist this weekend when Aberdeen visit Ibrox but he should be free to face Hibernian next Saturday.

However the player has not made an appearance since the Swedish season ended so his match sharpness may need to be assessed by McCoist ahead of any decision to include him.

After completing his move this afternoon, Celik spoke exclusively to RangersTV.

Stay tuned to rangers.co.uk and rangerstv.tv for his first interview as a Rangers player.
