Dear God,

Some of the comments on this thread are scary.

Do you know someone who is ill?

How did they contract the illness. Certainly not decided on whether they were one of us or a Celtic minded person.

Both Fernando and Petrov need and deserve every ounce of support and humanity we can offer. Tomorrow one of our immediate family could be the victim to a cruel illness at a ridiculously young age.

I know I would want and take all the help I was offered. Have to confess I was well impressed to see third bigotdome sold out at the Petrov game but more especially when those wee boys ran on to cuddle their dad. To them he was not a Bear nor was he a Tim. He was these wee boys' dad.

Yes, we are football opponents but surely when we see someone seriously ill we can come together.

If not, maybe I should bail out.

Pity you couldn`t tell the mhanky mhob that. They Boo`ed

Carlos Cuellar through out . We don`t need them and our chosen charities don`t need them.

Imagine if they started on Ricksen during the game ? would you rule it out ? I wouldn`t and no sane person would rule it out.

Holland select v Rangers select and they could charge what they wanted for it as it would be going to charity. We`d fill the ground no problem.

You'd have thought truly horrible illnesses like the ones suffered by Petrov and Ricksen would transcend footballing rivalry.

Did 9/11 , Ibrox disaster ,War Hero`s etc ? Sorry but I couldn`t trust that mhob as far as I could throw them. Better to leave our charity events to ourselves.

Aye, right ye are.

Let's have a wee love in with that charitable bunch from the east end.

They can entertain us with their songs about killing Brits, no Protestants, the jolly craicsters from the IRA (not the real ones, the old ones)...oh, their songs about the Provos ( they are the real ones, not the old ones).... About Nacho Novo dying in his sleep...more such join along ditties like Roll of Honour.....

Aye, a right good idea.

I wish Petrov a speedy recovery, however, I want fuck all to do with those republican, terrorist loving, trampy Taig cunts.

We can honour, and celebrate our own without involving those immigrants.

In fact, scratch that.

Let's organise it for say, I don't know, perhaps around the 11th November....

Let's see how charitable they are then. Let's see what means more to them, their faux sympathy for an ex player, or their bitter hatred of the poppy.

unbefuckingleivable!

Seriously???????

yes i hate the fucking tarrier scum tatty munching cunts as the next person in here does, but from someone who has lost both parent's within the last 18 month's one at 56 and the other at 55, i for one would agree that a match that could (would) raise ???????? well i would beleive into the millions for charities of people who in the bitter end die of what we hope one day will be curable diseases that allow them at least the time to see their grandkids grow to marrying age then i am for that.

try living through some hard times and you will realise that football (and believe me me and my my dad spent many a great afternoon at ibrox in hail rain or fucking snow shouting, singing, screaming at those mhanky bastards) can be something secondary when it comes to helping someone!

God knows and my father knows i hate the cunts and if it was a meaningfull match then i would be as bitter as the next bloke, but if i could spend £100 to watch a football match in the belief that another bear could eventually spend one more day than i got to with their parents then i would find it a worthwhile cause.

it is about time some people took a reality check on life, I thought like many of you do and know that one day someone who has posted here about not going ahead with this sort of thing will understand what i mean (unfortunatly).

there are three thing's in life that will always be true, rivalry (we love it and you all know it), Taxes (well we know what they cunt's are like) and sadly death ( if it comes to someone young then hopefully we can prevent it through things like this).

I would go with a home and away fundraiser against the Dutch team of his choice if they were available and willing to take part. Who knows, it could become a regular fixture every couple of years with a basic trophy to be held by the winner. In that way there could be a regular influx of funds for the charities here and in Holland who specialise in supporting those struck down by such a terrible disease.

I would say that this would be a more suitable time for any fans who wanted to wear an orange top in support of Fernando and the links we would be forging with the Dutch by organising such an event to help such a deserving group of charities. Rather than linking it to the Ramsdens final, for one thing there should be a lot more fans in attendance than at a game held at Easter Road.

instead of going to the bother of organising bi annual friendlies why not just donate to the charities?

I'm following you the day. Biannual, no. But one friendly would allow people to come together and show their appreciation of Fernando. A mass catharsis for the Bears and mutual support for Fernando and for the Bears that are saddened by the news, which we clearly are very much.

One would work but more other than that is destined to fade away after a few years once the next ill footballer comes on the scene. Although I must say that it seems to me like some people are going out of their way to look like the 'good guy'. It wasnt that long ago Laudrup was diagnosed with lymphoma. Somehow Ricksen has usurped him in the sympathy bandwagon stakes. I've seen just giving pages set up, folk coming up with the most cringeworthy chants, folk wanting to play charity matches against them in a joint fundraiser for petrov. How about we let him try get to grips with his condition and deal with that instead of ideas to bring him across and parade him infront of 50,000 like some make a wish foundation kid.

Depends how you look at it. Parading him or letting him see how much he means to alot of people. I'd still do it even if he couldn't come across or didn't want to. We should have done more to get behind Laudrup as well. It isn't being a 'good guy' for me. It's being a Rangers Family. I'm not often soppy and cliched but I am with this. I can see your point though. I don't know, maybe it's just an attempt to satisfy the need to feel like you are doing something to help in a situation like this.

In that case some people should take a look round about them. WE've got families getting food parcels and people unsure where their next meal is coming from but god forbid something happens to a footballer. Instead of looking after those who we can't look after how about looking after those we can? As horrible as it may sound. Theres nothing any of us can do to help Ricksen get through this. Facebook likes and retweets of pictures etc certainly wont help him, just look how succesful they were in finding Kony 2012, and if the club want to brin him over lets do it in a way that it doesn't feel like he's here only because he's ill otherwise it shows the whole thing up for the farce I think it is (at least where a lot of people are concerned.)

The feeling to want to help one of your own is quite normal. We know we can't though, not in a medical sense anyway. We can support him and help others that need it at the same time with a charity match.

He would be here because he's ill. Because he's ill and because he's one of us. Of course, there's no need to have him over at all. Him being there is not the important thing. The sentiment and the charity is more important I would say.
