BBC SCOTLAND have refused to commit to showing the first Old Firm clash in three years.

The broadcaster holds the rights to screen a live match from the Scottish League Cup semi-final .

But it says it hasn’t decided whether it will televise the Rangers versus Celtic clash - which is to take place in three months time.

It will mark the first time since the historic rivals have played each other since April 2012.

The Beeb is expected to announce whether they will screen the game later this week.

A spokesman said yesterday: “No decision has been made on whether we will broadcast the Rangers and Celtic game.

“We are still considering so it will be decided over the the next couple of days.”

The match is scheduled to take place on February 1 but insiders have speculated that it may be moved to midweek.

The BBC said: “There are no proposed details at the moment. When it has been decided, we can give details then.”

Yesterday, both sets of fans took to social media to speculate on where the game will be broadcast.

Rangers fan ‘Staunchus Pilate’ wrote: “The BBC pretending that showing the old firm game is even a decision because you know why wouldn’t you want massive viewing figures"

Eh what bit of the BBC have the rights to a semi final don't you get?

Technically they could though, the BBC have the rights to one & an option of the other, so if they were to show the sheep game and refuse the old firm it would then become available!

Of course none of this matters... The BBC will be showing the old firm & no doubt the other semi too!
