Thing is McCafferty, Cairney and the celtic view photographer still have to appear in court as well. These 3 were employed by celtic so they better get another excuse ready as the separate entity won’t wash, similar to their fans.

Surely now though the statement brings the matter conclusively into the public domain (as if it wasn't before) and will now be openly discussed on radio phone ins, by all media, politically, etc.

It's being discussed by the scum club, lets debate it every media platform, let's get this statement ripped apart everywhere.

Spot on. A wee thing called vicarious liability then comes into play.

Lets put it simply...

Imagine abuse happening at Troon Nursery, attached and affiliated feeder nursery to Troon Primary School and the head teacher and all teachers of the primary schools saying "we knew, but it is a separate entity. Nothing to do with us"

Disgusting comment from club.

FOLLOWING the conviction of Mr James Torbett at Glasgow Sheriff Court, celtic Football Club wishes to express our deep regret that the incidents took place and sympathy for the victims who suffered abuse. We are grateful for the courage of those who have come forward to report abuse and to give evidence after such a long period of time. We have great respect for them and their families as they continue to cope with the distressing effects of the abuse they suffered.

Allegations regarding abuse at celtic Boys’ Club first emerged in the 1990s. Although celtic Football Club is an entirely separate organisation, we have always taken these allegations extremely seriously because of our historic contacts with celtic Boys’ Club. All investigations by the police and other inquiries were given our full support. We encouraged any individuals involved to report all information to the police so that matters could be investigated fully. celtic Football Club continues to encourage any victim of abuse to report these crimes to the police.

After the allegations became known in the 1990s, celtic Football Club took steps to develop a new code of conduct and procedures to protect young people. Since then, celtic Football Club has been at the leading edge of putting welfare and safeguarding protections in place for our young people. We were the first club in Scotland to appoint a safeguarding officer, developing policies for the protection of young people and monitoring and reviewing our procedures to ensure they continue to reflect best practice.

The abuse of children is an issue affecting many areas of society, including a large number of football clubs, sports clubs, youth organisations, educational institutions and religious bodies across Britain. celtic Football Club strongly believes that children and young people involved in football have the right to protection from all forms of harm and abuse and is committed to ensuring this and to promoting their wellbeing through continued cooperation with our children and young people, parents and carers and the relevant authorities.

Any victim reading that will be appalled once again the that rancid club. They must be going through hell as it is. That mob truly don't care.

Any lawyer reading that will be hoping that the victim's contact them. Shame FC have well and truly messed up with that pathetic statement and ANY half decent lawyer will be able to drive the proverbial coach and horses through that quite easily. They've spent all of that time to prepare that insult and they've totally fucked up. Even Daly will run riot with it.

A boy posted on FF that it doesn’t matter if they are a separate entity or not. I’ll see if I can find it but it’s all about the surrounding and the care they were in when it happened.

They actually have a sentence in that statement that should hang them

After the allegations emerged in the 1990's they as a club took huge steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of kids????

OK so if I'm a hot shot lawyer I would be asking the question why they deemed this necessary after all the boys club is a separate entity and absolutely nothing to do with their club.....as far as they should be concerned their house was in order as the boys club was not their problem!!!!

I mean why bother going to these steps if you didn't have a problem???

Yes we all know they knew from the 70s and did nothing, I want the bastards buried for this

Does being at the leading edge and reflecting best practice now demand changing the name of your Boys Club?
