The only reason to not water it is to make it impossible to play decent football on it.

Makes the game a horrible spectucal.

Its a leveler when teams are far apart in quality.

Each pitch plays different, ball reacts differently in different areas.  Playing on them all season you learn where the ball holds up or bounces well or poorly. 

Obviously it's no excuse against mobs like this. 

Football should always be on grass Imo.
