Popular Post berkshirebear 3,189
That game was crying out for Jones after 60-70 minutes were his pace could have been a massive weapon, why doesnt SG seem to like using his subs. I think it cost us massively last year and he doesn't seem to be learning. Will it cost us this year as well?? I'm loving what he's done to the club in terms of standards etc so don't mean to be too critical, but just failing to see his plan with subs!! GA1972 10,403
Something Walter Smith used to do a lot, things weren’t going wrong as such so Gerrard didn’t change anything which he’s done a few times in similar situations to tonight’s game. Would like us to be more pro active but he was obviously happy with the 0-0 tonight
Popular Post RM Monitor And Standards Officer 112,982
No even getting into it. But the pace of the game made it hard to sub people on. Think both arfield and ojo needed it but can see why he didn't Your threads have been suspect to say the least billscott, cstamomusa, Moobs and 20 others
RobertN 398
Changing a winger surely would not destroy the shape that much ? Three minutes to go time wasting is not a good use of the subs bench in my opinion JCDBigBear, berkshirebear and Bears
LegendofCoop 18,165
The most obvious one was Jones for Ojo. However, it's really hard to get up to match speed in a game like that. Had we already scored, I think Jones would have been on. However, it was also clear both teams had the measure of each other and cancelled each others threats out. I think SG in particular probably was happier of the two with a 0-0....especially away. Had he made changes and we had lost, wouldn't have gone down too well. Eitehr way he was going to be criticised.
tannerall 25,935
No matter the timing, a sub can slow down the team tempo and disrupt the whole team pattern, especially when it is a high pace intensive game, and one mistake could be crucial. Bearsden bear 2,376
I wanted Jones on myself last 20. Ojo was knackered and Arfield doesnt have the legs to run away from anyone. There was more space to operate in late in the game. To be fair we had fell out the game by them and didnt look like scoring. An away goal would pretty much have got us one foot in the group stages. I understand he didnt want to lose a goal but changing a wide player wouldnt have made us defensively weaker imo. Denton 15
Both Arfield and Ojo not great this evening. I’d have brought Jones on. But we were keeping it tight for the draw. GA1972

bluenoz 32,625
Making no subs ( until late ) was the right choice and 0-0 is not a bad result. I swear lots of posters never played the game. WATP-FOREVER, Bobby Hume and rbt1548

orange&blue92 1,284
Warburton made subs at the 60th every game, no matter the situation. We looked spent and were hanging on for a 0-0 at best. In the end 0-0 is a good result but imo we looked a poorer team in the 2nd half and barely threatened. berkshirebear, ElBufalo20, GA1972 and 2 others
