The sad reality of it is that the players are not up to standard, the younger players coming through the U21 have also been shown up to be totally awful, finished way off Iceland and France ending in second bottom. I really think it is time to wind up the Scottish national team, they are a total embarrassment to the country.

Leave the slag off Ally threads for the Bears Den.

No slagging, ok the pic is slightly faceitous :mutley:

However, I do think the younger/experienced is something they may go for.....how many times do you see it overseas where someone like van Basten or Klinsmann get their first jobs as the national coach but have good support staff around them. Unfortunately for us, we've no one recently retired that was an international capable and we haven't got a young, up and coming coach looking after the 21s that could step up like Southgate has

Jackie MacNamara will be available shortly and always seemed to be a bit of a media favourite , that seems to have been the sfa's MO for the last few appointments . Chesney won't go until after the next set of games though at least , and regan and co. don't have the balls to sack him .

The scottish media were falling over themselves to tell us about Big Sam's scottish heritage a few months ago , He's looking to get  into management again

Could do a lot worse.

When you have that wee arrogant ginger fanny then anything is an improvement.

A lot of people saying Lagerback which I think would have been great had he not retired. So if not Lagerback then what about the guy he owed part of his philosiphy to...Roy Hodgson?

The guy has International pedigree with Switzerland in the 90s qualifying then for WC94 and Euro96. Managed Finland with reasonable sucess before going to Fulham who he took to a Uefa Cup final. At West Brom he kept them in the league comfortably for years when they were always known as a perennial "yo-yo club".

Things weren't so good at Liverpool or England. However, maybe the mass demand from fans to play a certain way may have effected his coaching of the sides. Perhaps not having that there may actually get the best out of him and the squad by adapting his rigid 442/4411 and just trying to get results which Scotland actually needs. Every average team he has been at he's got the best out of them by being strong at the back and building from there. His strongest tournament with England was Euro 2012 when he had only 3 months to prepare.

Only Walter can sort that shite out I think. He did it once, he can do it again.

There is enough half decent players in that side that if drilled properly and sent out with a tactical plan not designed on the back of 10 Regal's that we can still qualify however the change needs to be made now before the Wembley game.
