In his defence it does seem like everyone in the squad has a real aversion to shooting, Tav squaring it the other night. We always seem to want to play a pass to try and get tap ins rather than taking shots that will work the keeper at the very least (or win corners if blocked)

Think you are seriously clutching at straws here. He had a clear chance to shoot the other night and refused to take it on.

Most Saudis support a local team and then a European one
Al Hilal have a 65k seater stadium which sells out , they're the most successful team in the country and have won the AFC Champions League 4 times
They have a significantly bigger market in their own country than we do with our clubs. Comment on their sportswashing and buying high profile players all you want, but most of your post is pretty ignorant of that region

As I said on the other thread before it was closed, I would genuinely be happy going out in the playoff round.
Get that extra £5m and go through to the Europe group stage and hopefully get some decent results.
Obviously wouldn't be disappointed going through to the CL proper, but think for this one year alone it could be a negative.
The World Club Cup is going to be the biggest payout from any tournament as far as I know. We need to rack up as many wins as we can this year to get it.
Getting through to the CL would likely see us pick up very few points. With a lucky draw, we might get 3rd place, but would likely get beat in most of the games Vs the pot 1 & 2 teams, and some of the pot 4 teams are scary! Every chance we finish 4th and exit Europe with very few points. Even if we did get 3rd, we are missing all the points we could have got from wins in the group stages, and could get knocked out with a bad draw.
Getting the the WCC next year would be better than getting to the CL this year.
