Ibrox_Nights reacted to westenclosure2008 in Kent & Morelos
We’re over reliant on them. Nobody has been brought in to challenge them. Every forward player we have brought in since Kent has been a squad player at best. We should’ve been spending our budget on that area not on the defence. Balogun was adequate in my opinion and never really let us down.
Lafferty, Sadiq, Hastie, Jones, Barker, Ojo, Itten, Sakala, Wright
Thats a horrific roll call of forward players and highlights the lack of investment in this department. Hopefully not going to add the new boys to that but the early signs aren’t great.

Ibrox_Nights reacted to The Specky Forum Organiser in Kent & Morelos
Even if they weren't at their best Kent's ability to make space and Morelos ability to hold the ball up would have made a massive difference tonight
Matond/Tillman were static and Colak wasn't involved at all

Ibrox_Nights reacted to Malkytfp1 in Kent & Morelos
Wish I had a positive bone in my body tonight but rangers have truly fucked that.
We've over relied on Morelos for far too long. By now we should have a plan for how to play without Morelos and that's down to management. Even without both of them tonight we should have more than enough in the bank to challenge a team with former Accrington Stanley players at the back. More important than individuals is tactics and formation and for far too long we've struggled with creating chances.

Ibrox_Nights reacted to RangersMedia in John Souttar
Was posted on here last week his brother passed away - now being reported in the media.
After what happened to Fernando, I'd be astonished if any Rangers fan didn't give Souttar their full support the next time he takes to the field for us - leave form / quality aside. MND is a bastard of a disease

No, probably not. I wasn't advocating for it 😁

I know. I wouldn't even consider the former but would very much consider the latter.

Not on RM. Require 12 months to judge because ‘aye but what about Lundstram’. The last player in about 2 decades who’s started off brutal and become excellent. The exception that proves the rule.
Get shouted down on here for it, but you can tell if a guy has something about him or not very early on.
I think Colak does actually have something, good finisher from the limited service he’s had. Don’t see him as a starter, but a good supplement to Morelos and Roofe.

Ibrox_Nights reacted to The Godfather in The VAR decision against us
Folk wanted VAR.
It's a shambles and no one knows the rules.
It will fuck us over a good few times before the season is done too.

There's a few in the side who need their baws squarely toed after last night!

You can't add a midfielder to a back 4, have 2 defensive midfielders in the middle, and expect anything other than problems against teams not wanting possession, sitting in banks of 4 or 5, and looking to hit on the counter.

Ibrox_Nights reacted to STEPPS BOY in Central midfield, and the lack of investment
That’s yet to be seen.
I have massive doubts if we have signed The attacking players we required.
The defence looks a mess.
The midfield is stale, lacks drive and creativity.

Ibrox_Nights reacted to graeme_4 in Central midfield, and the lack of investment
I’m not talking about players in the ‘10’ role or AM, like Hagi, Lowry, Lawrence etc.
I mean those that are more deep lying being unable to do what’s needed.
-
Ibrox_Nights reacted to graeme_4 in Central midfield, and the lack of investment
I don’t think he has, or we wouldn’t have 4 or 5 CM options that barely play a forward pass, never mind cut teams open.
Hate to say it, but if you look at that wee cunt McGregor for them he gets the ball, gets his head up and drives forward. None of ours do that.

Ibrox_Nights reacted to Creampuff in Central midfield, and the lack of investment
The first half of this post is so good and the second half is so bad.
At his best Ryan Jack absolutely ran our midfield and done a superb job of it. Also he played half of the league fixtures the season you’re saying he “barely kicked a ball”. The same half we were barely conceding shots on target, far less goals.

Ibrox_Nights reacted to RangersMedia in Central midfield, and the lack of investment
Domestically against most of the shite we need to move to a 4-1-3-2 formation and tbh I'd be playing this v Union next week too
Against the filth etc it's clear the midfield battle is key so I'd move back to a 4-3-3 with more balanced midfield players but we honestly need to just have a fucking go, release the handbrake, play attacking players in an attacking formation and if we concede 1 or 2 goals a game who the fuck cares if we're scoring 4 or 5?
Lundstram is the 1 in midfield, then the 3 in front of him should be creative players. I'd like to see us try Tillman up alongside Colak

Ibrox_Nights reacted to sausagetrunks in Central midfield, and the lack of investment
when Gio first came in he played the exact same way and we were dropping points left right and centre. then he reverted back to the wingbacks overlapping.
watching us last night was boring, lethargic and one paced. our attack was like watching a granny with no teeth trying to eat an apple. when he first came in it was all about keeping the zero and he was playing too negative and playing with the handbrake on. we are so much better than this. Gio needs to take the handbrake off and let us play to our strengths.
-
Ibrox_Nights reacted to Colin Traive in Central midfield, and the lack of investment
Spot on.
By making runs in from the wings, they also provide options for our “quarterback”, ie whichever poor sod is tasked with finding a telling forward pass at that moment. As someone said, Steven Davis is the best at the club at this which doesn’t reflect well on the rest. Billy Gilmour was the natural successor but let’s not go there.
A back five with deep midfielders in Jack and Kamara left us with just three new signings to create and provide a threat and Tillman in particular seemingly unclear of his role. I have huge hopes for this kid but we need to handle him much better than this.
Abysmal and, hopefully, the absolute low point of Gio’s time here.

Ibrox_Nights reacted to NixonRFC in Central midfield, and the lack of investment
That's Steven Davis job, there's no point renewing his contract to play against St Mirren, he's the one player you can trust to take the ball deep and start a move, I wasn't overly thrilled about his renewal but if he's in the squad I'd rather he played in these type of games until Gio signs someone better than him.

Ibrox_Nights reacted to graeme_4 in Central midfield, and the lack of investment
Our CMs are not forward thinking, they work hard, they break up play and the recycle the ball - but everything is safe and sideways.
We need someone who plays in the Kamara / Jack / Lundstram positions (either in the 2 or 3) that gets his head up, plays the ball forward at pace and cuts open defences quickly.
I know we’ve been linked with a few over the last couple of seasons, but we haven’t spent any substantial money on a CM in this squad, despite it clearly being a problem since Gerrard came in. And it shows.
Of all our flaws, and there’s many, not creating enough chances is the biggest.
Time to get the finger out Ross Wilson.

Ibrox_Nights reacted to MarcusDa Beasley in Gio to blame
After some of the free flowing attacking football we played not too long ago, the experienced Rangers players in that team must listen to Gio’s safety first tactics and think: What. The. Fuck? Players can’t possibly enjoy playing for a team that never plays a forward pass and uses Goldson as a fucking playmaker. It’s mental.
