I'm pretty sure the same thing happened today with Dessers. Even though he is a shocking striker, that 'tackle' by Johnston interfered with Desser's shot (he pulls his leg back to shoot and catches Johnston's leg). If the Desssers at Ibrox is a foul, then Johnston's should have been a foul, which would have been another penalty.

They made the VAR decision very quickly, faster than offside checks usually happen. The decision was communicated as no penalty. Nobody showed the offside for over 30 minutes after the incident, even Sky were confused by what was happening saying it wasn't mentioned on the feed they have. When they eventually showed the still of the offside, the ball was already travelling from Lundstram (I do think Sima was probably offside regardless).
They have made the right decision, but I feel the offside has gotten Collum off the hook for having a fucking howler here - I don't believe that offside was even checked until after the event. That is concerning.

Are you saying we shouldn’t analyse the match to see what went wrong? Are you saying we can’t say a better striker than Dessers would have finished some of those chances?

Thought the attack was the problem not the midfield or defence. Our XG was 1 and 0.7 for them. Although Balogun showed that he’s still a liability at times.
We created more chances we just didn’t have the quality to take them.
The goal was a fuck up from Sima and McCausland and the second was a great finish.
And a defender scored for us.

He is the best option we have on the right wing so he should start. So far he has done well but either he can't, or is told not to, cross. Something I think he'll need to work on if he wants to continue to hold that place.

I think what PC has done has been outstanding but its still the same crop of players he's working with, he's raised them from a 5/10 to a 7/10. We need real quality additions to bring us up to a 9/10 to really compete for silverware.
Our ability to win the league will be dependent on what the filth do with player recruitment in January - if they get it right then regardless of how good a manager PC is, I think he'll struggle. However, January is a fickle market and Rodgers seems to have lost the dressing room, so it could still happen.

Shankland has played practically every minute of the season so while he has indeed played less games he’s actually played 600 mins more than Dessers (597mins to be exact) which is the equivalent of 6 and 2/3 games more.
So, accounting for actual playing time, Shankland has scored 13 times in 24 full games and Dessers has scored 8 in an equivelant 17 and 1/4 games. All things being equal, Dessers needs to score an extra goal to be comparable with Shankland’s scoring exploits this season.
As far as I am aware Shankland hasn’t played in the CL or EL this season, nor is he confronted with the low block as teams tend not to park the bus v Hearts, so you could argue Dessers playing against better opposition more than makes up for the deficit when compared fairly with (in your words ‘a prolific’) goal scorer such as Shankland.
Bottom line is the Shankland might be more appealing but he’s no more clinical than Dessers this season.
I certainly wouldn’t be spending money on Shankland when his conversation and accuracy is no better, in fact worse, than Dessers.
