Rangers boss Steven Gerrard sensationally claims Scotland’s referees have had it in for Gers for YEARS
STEVEN GERRARD has sensationally claimed Scotland’s referees have had it in for Rangers for years.
The Gers boss was furious with decisions whistler Kevin Clancy made in his side’s 1-1 draw with Aberdeen.

Gerrard reckons Scottish refs have had it in for Rangers
Gerrard felt an early red card for Alfredo Morelos was harsh.
And he was left staggered that Dons defender Dom Ball escaped a sending off after conceding a penalty.
Asked about a siege mentality within his dressing room, Gerrard said: “We need to try and use it to our advantage, but it’s not just today, it’s been happening for a while.
“It’s been happening for a good while.
“I believe it’s been happening for SEASONS.
“That’s my opinion, just my opinion.
“I don’t think we ever get anything to go for us.
“Everything we have seen today is about Rangers
“So someone should give me answers on that. Someone should give me the answers because if there’s anyone in his room thinks nothing should have happened after that penalty…
    “It is what it is.
    Willie Vass
Josh Windass indicates he was pulled back for penalty
“I can’t control if the issue is going to be ongoing. All I can do is give my opinion on it.”
Gerrard insists the red card for Morelos was too severe after clashing with Scott McKenna.
But he was more furious Dons defender Dom Ball wasn’t sent off for conceding a penalty.
Gerrard said: “With the sending off I think when you do stuff like that, when you react like that, you leave officials with decisions to make.
“So we will speak to Alfredo about the part he has played in it.
“But we feel hard done by because we felt he was provoked twice with violent barges.
“No way in the world was his kick-out violent so we didn’t think he deserved a red.
“At the same time, with the penalty there was no attempt to play the ball. So it’s beyond me how a card can’t be shown for that situation.
“It seems like the world is against us today.
    PA:Press Association
James Tavernier celebrates scoring from the spot
“But we’ll make sure we get better for that. We’ll make sure we play better and try and put results to bed, because it looks like some more decisions will go against us as the season goes on.”
Asked if he felt Morelos has been targeted, Gerrard added: “Possibly. So he needs to learn and be ready for that.
“I can’t prove that’s the case but two violent barges by McKenna, it seems people are out to wind him up, yeah.
“What’s disappointing from our point of view is that the whole incident was two or three seconds but the assistant only saw one second of it.
“So he sees Alfredo’s instant in one second but not the two barges in the other two seconds.
“With the penalty incident there was no attempt to play the ball. That’s the rules, it doesn’t matter what my opinion on it is.
“The rules state that if you don’t make an attempt to play the ball, you should be punished. And there was no punishment.
“I had a chat with the referee about it. The assistant said he only saw one second out of the three with the Alfredo incident, which I find hard to believe.
Gerard was gutted to lose a stoppage time equaliser but was delighted with the way his side played.
“I’m disappointment for my players but I don’t go away from here sad.
“I actually loved what I saw.
“I think people are now starting to understand when I say Rangers are different now.
“We are a different team and the players are proving it.
“I go away reasonably pleased, but gutted for my players we never got over the line. It would have been a huge three points.”

CLINT HILL watched Rangers lurch from the dying days of Mark Warburton’s reign through Graeme Murty’s first spell as caretaker manager.
As Gers searched for a new boss, the veteran stopper felt sure they would opt for an experienced hand on the Ibrox tiller.
Instead, they brought in Pedro Caixinha, a little-known Portuguese coach with a background in Mexico and the Middle East.
It was a call which shocked Hill at the time, and one which returned to haunt Gers’ hierarchy before they pulled the plug on Caixinha’s disastrous seven-month reign.
Hill, now No 2 to Joey Barton at Fleetwood Town, told SunSport: “Towards the end of Mark Warburton’s last season at Rangers, it was a little bit chaotic.
“Mark started the season and we had some good moments. But there were a few bad ones as well and we never got to the required standard, so the change was made.
“Graeme Murty came in and gave us some stability, and then all of a sudden Pedro Caixinha came in.
“No disrespect to him, but no one had heard of him.
“We were thinking someone like Alex McLeish, or one of the other names that were bandied about at the time would get the job — someone who knew the history of Rangers and what the club was all about. And then, all of a sudden, Caixinha got the job.
“I don’t think he was the prestigious name that Rangers needed.
“I’m not saying someone like McLeish would have done the job any better or worse.
“But the general feeling around was we needed stability and someone who knew how to get Rangers back challenging. The club went down a different route, but unfortunately it didn’t work out.
“Pedro wasn’t the friendliest manager I have ever had and he didn’t go out of his way to make you part of things.
“He would say hello and maybe pull you aside now and then, but his man-management wasn’t his strongest part.

“I liked some of his training sessions, it was a bit different and I took a lot from that.
“But if we are being honest, his time at Rangers wasn’t a success.
“Results are what you get judged on, and they weren’t good enough.
“The way Pedro handled me at the end, I can’t complain. We had a discussion and he said his bit and I said mine.
“He wanted to go down a different route and I have a lot of respect for that. It did hurt me for a month or so after I left Ibrox.
“I didn’t think I could go anywhere else, because after you have played for such a big club, you think to yourself ‘Where can I go from here?’.
“It was like there was a void left in me and it took me a long while to decide to join Carlisle.” Since Hill, 39, left Ibrox for the last time, Murty had a second spell in charge, after Caixinha was axed last season.
Hill believes after a few false starts, Ibrox chiefs have finally got the appointment of their new manager right with Steven Gerrard.

Hill came up against the Liverpool legend many times as a player and he believes Gerrard can bring success back to Gers.
Hill added: “Rangers need someone who knows the culture of the club and the scrutiny you will get in Glasgow, and I think they have that with Steven Gerrard.
“He will get the respect of the players and fans straight away after the career he has had. That, for me, is an advantage over Caixinha straight away.
“Gerrard has shown his character and teeth a little bit towards the media and he won’t stand for any nonsense about his club. The fans will love that.
“You have to defend your club and Gerrard is doing that. I hope he can close the gap on celtic and put them under a little bit of pressure this season. Rangers will need to build some momentum and you do that by winning games.
“He has a tough start with Aberdeen, Motherwell and celtic away in three of his first four games, but as soon as you put on that Rangers jersey you are a target.
“You are the team the opposition and fans want to beat the most. They have to be on it every game, no matter who they are playing.”
Hill only have spent a season at Ibrox, but he became a cult hero with Gers fans for his goal at celtic Park in a 1-1 draw in 2017.
It’s one of the highlights of his career, and he is amazed some Light Blues supporters continue to follow him back in England with Carlisle, and now as coach at Fleetwood.
Asked about the celtic Park clash, Hill said: “We were 1-0 down and we had a free-kick that was cleared out, but James Tavernier put it through to Emerson Hyndman whose shot was saved and I just gambled early.
“The ball hit my shin and flew into the net and the noise was unbelievable. I shocked myself I had scored and then I couldn’t get out of the net because Kenny Miller was on my back!
“I can remember looking at the celtic fans and all I could see was hatred staring back at me.
“As much as it was good, I was conscious it was only a point.
“We didn’t celebrate other points we picked up away from home, and I look at that the same way.
“It was still a huge moment for me and Rangers, but I was disappointed we didn’t win.
“I played 42 games for Carlisle last season and at every one there seemed to be Gers fans there to watch me.
“It was mind-blowing to see them at every home game. There were some at our friendly game at Morecambe the other week, and it is nice they still think of me even though I was only there a year.”

AFTER impressing in pre-season and in recent matches, Steven Gerrard has added Glenn Middleton to his first-team squad for the coming season.
The Light Blues manager involved a number of Academy starlets in his squad for the pre-season training camp in Andalusia, and having assessed all of the youngsters, he has chosen 18 year-old Middleton to join the first-team on a permanent basis.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV, Gerrard said: “They have done very well. The idea was to have a look at them in Spain and give them some opportunities.
“I don’t think anyone in the squad or anyone in the reserves will be disappointed as we have given them game time and minutes.
“Some have done really well, shone, accepted the challenge, faced it and taken it, and some have struggled a bit and it might take them a little bit longer to get another opportunity.
“But I think the one who has shone really, really well is Glenn Middleton. He has shown us he can be an impact player and he has shown he can play from the start now with a good performance against Wigan.
“So he is no longer an Academy player, he is a first-team squad member now for Rangers and he will start getting changed with the first team and he has earned that.
“So well done to Glenn. I had a chat with him and said ‘this is the start for you now’ – we need to start working on the whole package and get him to become a consistent winger for this football club for many years.”
    Fully deserved

The Tories and everyone else are correct in blaming the EU (not Europe).
The point is that the current board has misled the support over the SD contract(s).   They failed to advise that when we renegotiated the old agreement they paid out £3m.  They led us to believe that we would be free of SD at the end of that renegotiated contract.  They have run up a legal bill of £185 k  for us and £350 k for SD all because the renegotiated agreement was a tighter knot than the previous one.  Who on our board signed the contract?  It was carelessness in the extreme.  We were promised transparency and we are not getting it.  We have no fans group holding the directors to account because the so-called "independent" fans group C1872 is run by sycophants and appeasers.   I'm sick of these people.  We have had Stewart Robertson (supposedly our Managing Director) crowing about two minor deals we have agreed whilst our multi-million pound merchandising contract is in total disarray and we have heard nothing from him or any other director.
I have no time for Ashley nor for King.  I just want professional people running our Club in a professional manner and I don't see that happening any time soon.

I hope we bring out an orange top, I hope we keep fighting the spfl, I hope we keep telling everyone to go fuck themselves and I hope at the end of the season we can say that, both on and off the pitch, Rangers are back.
