Unpopular opinion but I’ll still have fond memories of him if he goes tbh. Winning 55 was something that seemed a decade away when he came in and yes, he’d leave us at a shite time but that outweighs him going IMO.

Would be different if he claimed he grew up supporting us like Rodgers did to them.

You can’t take 55 from him and honestly we’re further ahead that we had a right to imagine coming off the back of Pedro.

However, if he goes and we go out of Europe, finish 2nd domestically and get no trophies and it’ll be all too easy to remember him for that rather than 55…..at least initially.

Why would he kill the speculation when there’s clearly legs to the story and there’s at least an interest on his end too?

I think what he meant was he wants him to show there is no interest on his end, committed to this job for this season.

Even if that were the case I doubt he’d say it in such certain terms.

Imagine the scenes if he takes the Villa job and Klopp says fuck it, I’ve had enough at Liverpool.

Doubt he’d get offered the Liverpool job at this stage anyway, had he won a couple of trebles and got to champions league groups or last 16 he’d definitely be considered but he hasn’t really shown enough to merit his dream job at this time.

I've no more a bee in my bonnet than you do - or am I not allowed to point out the bits of Gerrard's history that contradict claims of 'loyalty and integrity'?

Why would I get a gold star if Gerrard leaves?

Of course you can air your opinion and also point out bits of his history, it was the use of the word ignore - implying that folk on here only hear what they want to hear. You state you are basing it on everything, which you may well be doing but don’t just assume everyone else is ignoring his past because they choose to believe that an event 16 years ago doesn’t define the person today.

A few years after the transfer request he had the bar fight, does that mean he’s likely to get involved in the same scenario today? People change, people mature (most of the time) so I think it’s perfectly fine for people to believe he does have integrity and loyalty just as much as those who think he might not.

You either like playing devils advocate or you want to be proven right that he leaves, most of your posts are trying to contradict anyone’s viewpoint on him staying.

I'm basing it on everything, not just the last three years. I'm not pretending that I have some sort of personal insight into the guy's mentalit and thinking basedo n some managed quotes. Gerrard said in a presser that he was committed to his job? Well fuck me. He's hardly going to answer a question about newcastle and say 'get me out this shitehole la' and gimme those Saudi millions'

I’m not pretending either, it’s a thing called a judge of character, it’s not science or fact, just one persons view of another.

You seem to have a real bee in your bonnet over this one, or am I not allowed to say that either as I need to have an insight into every aspect of your personal life and psyche before I can make that determination.

If he goes then we’ll give you your gold star and pat on the back because you said that he doesn’t have integrity or loyalty

Folk keep saying this yet ignore its the same Gerrard who once put in a transfer request while at Liverpool to try force a move to Chelsea.

If you want to believe he isn’t loyal or have integrity based on something like that rather than what we see before us then you are free to do so, my opinion is based on what I’ve seen at the club since he took over. He gets the club and I don’t think he’d walk away mid-season unless it was the dream job that might not come around again.

Its just my opinion, I’m not ignoring what happened it’s just how I read Gerrard as a person here and now, not something that happened 16 years ago.

We gave Gerrard his 1st proper route into management, backed him to the hilt with transfers & through shite results for him to eventually get to that league title btw

If he walks in November he'll burn every bridge he's built with the fans & will be looked upon in the same way as Rodgers when he left the taigs

Make no mistake about it if Gerrard walks we're in massive danger of losing the title this season, the upheaval midway through a season is bad enough but with our fixture list we'll be in big trouble

It will speak volumes about the man himself if he were to leave mid-season (which I don’t think he will do by the way as I do think he has integrity and loyalty).

I think everyone knows if he delivers 56 this year and a cup and a job becomes available down south we wouldn’t stand in his way and he could go with our blessings, leaving us now without a manager at a crucial point of the season would tarnish everything he has done here for certain.

Moving mid-season is also risky for him, he doesn’t have much time to turn things around and if Villa drop into the relegation zone they may well have a knee jerk sacking to try desperately to stay up (I’m sure there have been other teams that had more than 2 managers in a season when a new appointment didn’t work out)

A deep run and 56 does more for him than going to Villa and being mediocre but going to Villa and being a success guarantees him the Liverpool job.

That’s the risk he has to weigh up. If he goes to Villa and fails then he potentially blows his chance of the Liverpool job in the future but if he’s successful he puts himself in that mix.

Staying here is safer but more difficult to see how he can convince others down south he has done enough to prove he can take the Liverpool job. If he stays here and wins consecutive titles for 4/5 years waiting for Klopp to leave then it would put in him in a good stead.

I suppose Lampard got Chelsea thru Derby so mibee that is true.

Chelsea were desperate, Liverpool are not in that category and I can only see Klopp’s leaving on a high rather than being sacked. Also Lampard did fairly well at derby not sure what Gerrard would have to do at Villa for it to be classed as successful enough to get the Liverpool job.

Aye, but he's not better than him in every department, that's crazy talk

Think this just sums up just how much Barisic has underperformed this season if statements like that are coming out of the woodwork. Everyone knows Barisic is better but he is so far off it at the moment that he looks like he’d be at Holme running out at cappielow week in week out.

Really good but I do wonder how often he'll be given the freedom he was today, it's rare we allow any of our midfield 3 the license to be as creative as he was

The fact Gerrard said he played well suggests they are happy for him to do just that.

We are too one dimensional at times and he offers something different.

That said he needs to play regularly to get the most out of him.

Sky saying that Kasper Hjulmand is under consideration.

Personally if Villa come calling I think he will seriously consider it. Interest for them is likely to be a lot more concrete than the Newcastle links ever were.

It’s a risk for Gerrard if he does go. He won’t have European football and if it goes tits up there goes his chances of ever becoming Liverpool boss gone.

If he stays here and wins 2,3,4 in a row gets some cups won, get into champions league and prove himself then if the Liverpool job became available he’s in a better position than failing at Villa.

Saying that if he does a great job at a lesser EPL club then that will undoubtedly do him more favours than winning Scottish Premiership titles.

The fact they’re 4 behind us really should be putting a rocket up our arses. Hopefully it comes eventually

It will, the question is can we keep digging out just enough until that point. Kent being back tonight is a major plus, just need to make sure we bring him back carefully to avoid him getting injured again. Gerrard also has to get Alfie fired up again, he’s become too placid now.
