I think that’s true but I also think that we are bombarded with so much in the way of news and messages, not to mention incessant social media, that only something approaching the scale of yesterday actually holds people’s attention for any length of time.
People used to sit on the bus, read the story, digest it, discuss it at their tea-break etc. Virtually none of that happens and, while individuals might read about the scum behaviour and think “that’s terrible “, five minutes later they’ve moved on to the Kardashians or some other garbage.
Used to think that shite sticks but not so sure these days.
