It was a bold, ambitious move to bring SG and his team to Rangers.  An excellent piece of business.   It signals the sort of ambition that is needed.
Having done that it takes enough money to back the Manager with getting the best players we can afford to get.  I reckon SG would not be here if he did not appreciate in full that the spending power is nowhere near what he could afforded at many English or European clubs.   But what a challenge it is for him to assemble a properly recognisable and creditable Rangers team from the ragged and failing attempts that we've seen over the last few seasons.    That's a supreme test of SG's leadership, management and coaching abilities and like all of us I wish him absolutely every success.
But its not just players is it.   Its the whole of the Club that needs lifting one way or another.  It's restoring the sort of confidence and feel good factor in the Support by producing a properly competitive winning side every week with trophies to follow; and improving the team and supporter facilities at Ibrox and at  the Hummel training centre; and vastly improving the ways of working and focus at the Club to make the first team the best possible team with results to match it.    It takes a lift in the ambitions we've seen in recent years, and money to fuel that ambition.   And leadership to make it happen.
The matter of how King as a person goes about conducting his business in ways that sees him in court way more than I personally think is good for Rangers good name and reputation is one thing and a matter for other threads.   But in football terms having persuaded SG to take the helm at Rangers there is no question that King and the Board simply have to find enough money to make this work.   There is no option.     They must do their bit to the fullest of their ability to give SG the resources, stadium, facilities, and players he needs to get the job done at Rangers.

Good to hear, and I suppose it coming out on the back of Brenda's slabbering about the taig board is just a coincidence
Stevie's nobody's fool, and certainly, so far, is more than a match for the media and antics of the taig Manager and board.
Early days, but as one who was against the appointment at the start, can't help but be impressed so far, in alsorts of ways.

Harmony has broken out at Ibrox -- How good does  that sound and when was the last time that could have been printed?
Gerrard was a gamble there is no doubt about that as were the previous 4 inc Murty, I know it is early days but he has set the place alight and for the first time in ages it feels like we are heading the right direction.

STEVEN GERRARD has hailed the backing of Dave King and the Ibrox board for helping his bid to re-establish Rangers as a force.
The Gers gaffer has made 11 new signings this summer — and shipped 21 players out the door.
The key for me was to bring everyone together and change the mentality around the club.
“The first-team players are always the priority and everyone has to do everything they can to support that to ensure that they have got no excuses when they go on the park.
“We can’t have anyone around the place who is negative or not doing their job properly. We can’t have it. Everyone needs to pull in the same direction.
“It just needed a bit of connection and a few tweaks in certain areas, especially around the first team.
“Build confidence and belief, add some winners and leaders to the good players that were already here.
“Just to find that connection for everyone to pull in the direction for the first team, that’s all I felt it needed.”
Rodgers issued the Hoops hierarchy with a stunning ultimatum on Thursday.
But across the city harmony has broken out at Ibrox, with chairman King and his board working tirelessly to give Gerrard a platform on which to build.
King was at Ibrox on Thursday to see Rangers move within touching distance of a Europa League play-off place and Gerrard revealed further talks are planned.
He said: “We had a quick chat last night at the game and he’s been at the training ground today.
We have had two brief conversations but, yes, I will be speaking to him at length in the coming days.
“He’s been a great support to me, as have the board. Changing a lot of personnel in the squad, they have been very supportive.
We’ve made changes at the training ground and we are about to make some changes at Ibrox.
“They’re buying into what we’re trying to do and supporting us in every department.”

Amazing how those few words can sound so completely different coming from Gerrard compared to the magic twat.

Yeah I know how you feel but for me it is harder as he was an idol of mine as a kid as I do watch Liverpool as well as Rangers. I understand he is new to management and does not have the track record but if you compared him to Brendan then I am sorry I am SG all the way, don't want a tranny at Ibrox unless BP9 turns up and denounces the SNP. Not only that he has Gary Mac beside him, not much is getting past those two.
I think the thing that has impressed me most in the few games we have had is not only the player recruitment but the way he seems to be able to take a team into the changing room, shake them about when they are doing badly and we come out second half like a force of nature. It has happened at least twice if not three times in our last games.
There is also another game I remember where things changed at half time because the gaffer wanted it.
I am biased to the core with the gaffer and will freely admit it but everything about him speaks class at this time.

Luckily it doesn't seem like that at Ibrox.
People around me don't usually need a reason to moan at the team, but last night it was only encouragement even at 1-1.

Like many Bears I was not sold on SG when he was announced but I am rapidly changing my opinion of him and his backroom team.  So far he has weeded out most of our dross and brought in some good quality players and he has without doubt made some significant improvement in guys like Tav, Jack who now looks the player we thought he could be and Morelos who has become a huge player for us with the way he is playing now.
SG comes across really well at interview, with the media none of this business speak like pitch geography, trained well etc. in fact I'd say he is the most accomplished speaker since Sir Walter .
Overall we could well have got a diamond here and his profile is completely up there with anyone.

I thought Ejaria played well last night. He is very good at creating time for himself on the ball.
Clearly has the ability and can mix it (where he slid into the tackle, wiped out the guy, was fouled by another yet still got up and came away with the ball and got booked for the privilege).
Just needs to hit a pass a bit harder at times and release the ball a nano second quicker when attacking.
Think he’ll surprise a few as the season progresses.
Re: another post on here, he reminds me more of Pogba (ie a bit of a stroller) than Toure (ie less direct) at the moment  ?

My point of view as an auld yin is that I find there is little differences whatever your age is.
We oldies can be fun, yet some can be cantankerous bastards, in the same way as teens/20's/30's etc etc.can be.
Where we differ is where, as time goes by, the world changes and new things come along, but we have the knowledge of bygone days.
Nostalgia is a great thing, you only remember the good bits.

Good question OP and one which my wife discussed with me today. My son obviously enjoyed being in her company last night as he hugged her after each goal whilst in between shouted, swore and made the normal gestures that any pished-as-fuck 23 yearly would be expected to do.
She on the other hand couldn't be arsed with his swearing, drunken chants and general demeanour.

I’m no spring chicken but I remember standing in a queue for season tickets when we went down the divisions and got talking to an older bear in front of me.  He told me that he got married on a Saturday morning after the war and took his new Mrs to Ibrox in the afternoon (she wanted to go to the pictures but he said fuck that). He was proud as fuck that he had bought her a tea and sandwich at halftime for a treat ?

Pubs, yes, but why should kids not be at the football or on football buses? We need to be bringing through the next generation of fans surely?
I'm not saying that people should be censored, but common decency usually dictates that when you're in the presence of kids you self censor your language. You wouldn't sit in the cinema with your kid and expect other adults to be swearing.

I am 29 years old so i have seen a lot of Rangers since i started going to games. First game was Frank De Boars first game for Rangers at Ibrox and it was special. Been in the company of older bears a good few times but never really spoke to an older fan until i was up at Ibrox for Gerrards appointment.
We spent a few hours outside the stadium waiting for him to be annouced but this old fella must have been early 70's and his stories where just fantastic. He told me of the day at Ibrox when Gazza was here to Barca bears stories.  How good would it be for a podcast or a show on Rangers tv for the older fans to share there experiences.

Aye, great to listen to old stories and still hear the passion they have for the club.
What i do find sad is that the people who lost their lives while we were at an alltime low won't be around to see us rise to the top again.

Depends who or what your mindset is when I was young I was wild thought I knew everything I never took time to listen to stories from older folk, now I'm older I have no interest in telling younger folk stories I'd have no interest in hearing when I was young.
